@SimonW & @lfcg both of you are right to an extent so please agree to differ

@SimonW and others have a point thst some material is not added to appps in the way Sky implied which matters if you want to watch say an ITV showing of a Bond film as it is mainly ITV that is affected although so is some ch 4 material and Nat Geo. Sky have been told about this whether they can or will do anything is unclear.

@lfcg is correct it doesnt affect him as he watches other material. Suspect it would not bother me either.

It all comes down to how each individual watched TV so there is no right or wrong.only different.

He hasn't just argued that it doesn't impact him and he is fine with the way it works, if that is all he was saying then fine. He is telling people it works in a way it doesn't and that's just compounding the problem that Sky have caused by misselling it themselves by telling people it's working as it doesn't even when he is told he is wrong. Before I even replied he had basically told someone they were wrong and then continued giving out the wrong advice

Re: SkyGlass Awful

I haven't once told anybody they are wrong, my sky glass experience has been different that is all, we all can't comply to your suppressive point of view!

When I experience something on my playlist not being there or unable to view I will let you know then you can tell the world you were correct and I was wrong!

until that happens I say again & listen very carefully.......Everything I have added to my playlist has been there and played without exception, the experience of others I don't deny or question in any way.

I don't know how more matter of fact I can be but I'm sure you will tell me and others how I can overcome my obvious 'ism' that I have.

I haven't said it definitively works in any particular way, I've merely said in my experience it has worked in a particular way.

I haven't said it records anything, I said it is added to your playlist.

Keep up the woke fight!

You said the following

"You can add upcoming programmes to the list, they will just be added as soon as they are broadcast."

You were told by another user you were wrong and started fighting with him claimining you were right. Then the OP asked if it was like Sky Q and it would be there if they added it to their playlist and you said

"Yes, any program from the TV guide can be added to your playlist."

Which as a reply to him implies that it works the same as Q just without local copies.

If you want to give an opinion that the things which you have been adding have worked fine that's a perfectly fine opinion to give but when you choose to give a definitive answer to someone that ignores facts you have already been provided that's misleading

I know, you're right.

Am I allowed to consider myself ahead in todays world?
Advice appreciated but I don't mind repeating myself, you never know it might sink in one day!

Re: SkyGlass Awful

I haven't fought anybody.

You seem to be the one bringing the fight. Relax and listen, I have added stuff to my playlist from all content providers, I have also added stuff from the TV guide, ie episodes from yesterday and today, EVERYTHING that I have added has played, without exception.

Sorry that I can't be fodder for your woke fight against the regime!

So for the very last time, bye.

I agree, it's just a fact that you usually find a bully in most playgrounds, I've stood up to them before, don't think I will stop now.

@Ifcg

( providers, I have also added stuff from the TV guide, ie episodes from yesterday and today, EVERYTHING that I have added has played, )

The problems seem to be that whilst you are are able to add items to your playlist, some items from ITV are just shunted to ITV hub in SD and the latest episode is it always easy to find plus you have to wade through the ads if you want to catch up an episode partway through.
Some broadcast items don't even make it to the catch-up or On demand services either.

A few thoughts come to mind about this thread.

Just because you think you are right about something does not mean another person is wrong to think something else, and that works both ways.. !

It's actually good to have differing views, if we all thought the same life would be so boring!

When you think you are right about something any try to convince someone else who disagrees, you are very unlikely to succeed and both parties normally just end up believing more firmly in their position!

Sometimes you have to just agree to disagree and move on!

Re: SkyGlass Awful

the latest episode 'isn't' always easy to find.

Some items added to a playlist don't play it's being reported because whilst it might be streamed on Nat Geo for instance the Playlist may shunt it to another channel to which you don't subscribe.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

Vies are fine and we can all have differing views, but facts are just that, facts.
I ordered Glass after reading the initial blurb from Sky but fortunately due to this forum I realised that Glass wasn't for me, and in particular wasn't for my wife.

I wanted a TV for the kitchen and the 43" would have been spot on particularly with its built-in Soundbar. However when I realised that an item on the playlist was not a  re-gurgitated stream of the original broadcast recorded in the cloud by Sky but a potentially poorer quaility streamed item  ( particularly with ITV's SD Hub )  or was potentially an item that didn't make it to a catch-up list, or was transferred to a different channel where you didn't necessarily subscribe, I realised it that I should stay with Q and put up with the mini-boxes not always remaining connected to the SKY Q box. ( Something I was hoping that the Pucks would fix )

I'm pleased that this forum's members were able to enlighten me with real facts.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

I have issues with Sky Glass, like not being able to remove some items from playlist. However I think it is not right to call the product 'awful'. It has only been in action for about 1-2 weeks, and involves a massive change of re-routing a lot of program content from satellite to internet. Add to this what must involve a load of new Software and Hardware, it is to be commended that I can sit here and watch TV on a TV set which is of good quality, and combines lots of features that usually require set top boxes from other vendors.

One thing I have to say about Sky, as a result of many years as a customer, is that they always get things right in the end. And usually things stay working on an every day basis.

This product is in its infancy. Give it time.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

For a company like sky with all of the resources they have to put out a product like this I find incredible.

The hardware is very much below par, the ui is muddled at best.

Donr get me started on how you access content from certain providers.

It is my opinion that sky glass is awful, they should've kept this in the development stage for at least another year and they could've put out a product 100% better than this.

You haven't changed my mind, sky glass is awful, in my humble opinion.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

Having spent my entire working life in the Computer and Telecomm industry, long before the Internet became a backbone for the World wide Web, i know that there is no test bed available to any product developer, like the user base in which it intends to post its products. It would be impossible to test Sky Glass over all the conditions presented by a vast user base

1) Different broadband conditions throughout the user base :- ,There are users out there with differing connection speeds, non-sky routers, non-sky home mesh networks, line connections in differing states of condition.

2) The internet is not dedicated to Sky traffic alone - data transfer is shared with anything else using the network

In short, without knowing how many users comprise the Sky user base, it would be impossible to test all the various combinations as present in the user base..

It may not look right, but most providers of on line systems have no recourse but to test in house as best as possible, then put the product out into the field, and wait for the users to holler out!!

Considering the fact that I can sit here and watch TV on this new product, much the same as I did with Sky Q, i think it is quite an achievement.

All the bells and whistles are not yet up and running, but its only a question of time.....Then there is a bright future.
