Re: SkyGlass Awful

I have not come across that problem so how can I comment on something I haven't encountered, I merely said you can add things to the playlist, which you can, I've not lied, hoodwinked, deceived or said anything other than what I've encountered, if you've encountered different then enlighten the guy that asked the original question, try that for a change!

I'm not misselling as you put it, I have done exactly as described in my post, if you would've taken time to read my original posts I am more than unhappy with the performance of sky glass but I just answered a question honestly, I've added series from all providers be it sky, Netflix or terrestrial tv channels and they have all played back no problem, if you've encountered something different then that's a shame.

You are misselling it because you are basically implying everything you add to your playlist 'cloud records' so the user is in complete control but that's far from the case. For example, there was a user on here who posted that his wife likes watching loose women when she gets home from work to unwind. Even on the web version of ITV player loose women can take anywhere from several hours to a day to be uploaded and with glass just because its on the web/mobile version doesn't mean its on the Glass one. And there are some things like Fraiser and some movies on some channels that also never show up on the on-demand services but also don't get recorded. And some live events such as the news don't even show up on the TV guide to be added. Not to mention certain shows sending you to Disney+ or Amazon to watch what you added to your playlist from a channel. Oh and you also are not guaranteed to be able to view the content in the same or better quality than it broadcast in.

In theory it should be a like for like replaced to the record function but the reality is you are at the mercy of what the channels, content owners and sky rather than being in control yourself. If ITV want you to watch it in their app in SD that's what you get, if the content owners want you to subscribe to another service to be able to watch the episode you added that's what you get, if they want to take 6 hours to add it to their service that's what you get, if they decide that they only want you to watch live that's what you get, if they decide to hold some episodes back forcing you to watch via their website that's what you get etc etc. And if you are lucky and Sky decide they are able to record it to your online cloud drive then you get the service you were expecting

People did and you choose to dismiss them and continue spouting the incorrect information. Even if you have got lucky and your content has always been available when you want to go and watch it there is no way you have had the same experience as Sky Q as you almost certainly have been sent to channels own apps so you know its not the case that anything you add goes onto your cloud drive

Re: SkyGlass Awful

42 lines to tell me I'm wrong, I apologise profusely for my honest answer to a very matter of fact question.

Not once have I said the content in your playlist will be broadcast in the highest quality and I repeat, everything I have added to MY playlist has played back perfectly, I too apologise for that because surely it shouldn't happen like that!

Re: SkyGlass Awful

I said anything added goes to your playlist, which in my case is true.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

Not sure why ifcg is saying it in this way, and arguing with people who challenge, but whatever:

It's true you can add anything to your playlist, however once you have done so, not everything will play back. 'That's considerably more than minor', to quote the manager in spinal tap...

you can add frasier to your playlist, but if you then go to your playlist and click on frasier it will say nothing is available.

you can add Saturday night live on sky comedy to your playlist, but you won't be able to watch the Sunday episode until Wednesday.

you can add an ITV weekend showing of a James Bond film to your playlist, but it won't allow you to watch it back.

However the playlist is powerful as a place to aggregate things. Hopefully rights holders do deals with Sky over the coming months to get more content up sooner.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

I haven't argued with anybody, I've merely said that anything that I've added to my playlist is there and I've been able to play it, I've not come across anything yet that would allow me to say anything else.

The people that have said I'm 'misselling' and 'spouting nonsense' have the more let's say aggressive approach when it comes to putting their point of view across, some of these people list the equipment they have (can't understand why) and many of them don't list sky glass so that's interesting in itself. I'm actually speaking from my own experience and not piggy backing on what other people have claimed.

If I come across the problems mentioned from my own playlist then I will offer that perspective to others that ask the question, until that happens I can't say that it does happen. That would be lying!

By the way it's lfcg not ifcg.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

I know, its like most forums, platforms these days.

Dont you dare say something is happening to you, it can't be true because that isn't happening to me!

Strange that the only person that was ok I get the gist and thanks for that was the guy that originally asked the question, all the others came out of the woodwork sharpish to add their TRUTH!

My next post could be......I'm currently watching Emmerdale......NO you're not!!!!

And when people tell you that you what you are saying is wrong you start arguing with them implying you are right. And then you answer people in a definitive manner when you know ow others have told you it doesn't work like that on all content. That's why I said you were misselling it because you are choosing to ignore what people have said to you that corrects what you are saying and continue to tell people it works how you think it works not how it does work.

And then you try and play the victim when called out for intentionally misleading people because you have been informed and given examples of why what you are saying is wrong

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@SimonW & @lfcg both of you are right to an extent so please agree to differ

@SimonW and others have a point thst some material is not added to appps in the way Sky implied which matters if you want to watch say an ITV showing of a Bond film as it is mainly ITV that is affected although so is some ch 4 material and Nat Geo. Sky have been told about this whether they can or will do anything is unclear.

@lfcg is correct it doesnt affect him as he watches other material. Suspect it would not bother me either.

It all comes down to how each individual watched TV so there is no right or wrong.only different.

It doesn't matter if it's how it worked for you. You can say that's how its worked for you but where there is plenty of evidence it doesn't work that way on a lot of content and you have been told that to keep telling people definitively it works as you claim is just dishonest. Even then the OP asked if it worked like an online Sky Q (ie it recorded it) and as you have said it does but as you claim to have added a lot of Channel 4 and ITV content you know full well it doesn't as the majority of their content sends you to their app

Not once have I implied what others are saying is untrue, my experience is different.

Re: SkyGlass Awful

So because it worked for me in a different way to others the. It doesn't matter! Wow.

I haven't said it definitively works in any particular way, I've merely said in my experience it has worked in a particular way.

I haven't said it records anything, I said it is added to your playlist.

Keep up the woke fight!
