Sky sports juddering

Since the recent Sky homepage upgrade and while watching sky sports HD golf the golf ball appears to stop and restart across the length of a Putt on the green.  A juddering effect! This never happened before the upgrade. Please note this juddering effect is  recorded and repeatable therefore must be transmitted by the Q box and not the TV.

@cm59par

Not necessarily. It's caused by a mismatch of refresh or frame rate between the TV and the Sky Q box.

Do you have any picture smoothing turned on on your TV? If so turn it off. Or if not, turn it on at a low level.

Re: Sky sports juddering

Thanks Rhonny, I had switched 'off' trumotion on my LG TV. Admittedly it is a new TV and I have adjusted the settings to my best knowledge but I have only noticed this juddering since the sky update.  I have tried trumotion 'clear' & 'smooth' but no change. I thought refresh rate issues would cause random juddering rather than recorded/repeatable but if you have any other thoughts on how to adjust the refresh rates I would happy to try.

Re: Sky sports juddering

Hi,

I have had the same issues since golf came back after the first lockdown. The only time it is guaranteed to be fine is when the camera is at ground level. I also have a LG TV.  Your post was last August, have you sorted this now? If so, how?

I am hoping you have, I am an avid golfer and it really spoils my enjoyment

Re: Sky sports juddering

I have the very same issue. I also have a LG TV and a v3 q box. I have tried turning on / off all motion controls but the problem is still there.

Is it just LG TV''s that have this issue.

Re: Sky sports juddering

well that is now three people on the sky community with similar issues and we all have LG TVs.  The weird thing is that there wasn't an issue before the first lockdown.  So has there been some update from LG that has now affected the picture quality?

I thought originally that it might be the TV stations that were transmitting the golf, but it is the same on the PGA, LPGA and European tours.

Not sure what to do next?

Re: Sky sports juddering

Is this still an issue with you guys? I have noticed this juddering, even could be described as a robotic effect, in motion, in imagery via Sky Q, via LG OLED. Also noticed it in broadcasts from BBC too, via Sky Q this morning.

Re: Sky sports juddering

I still have the same issue. Although some day's are worse than others? It seems worse whilst watching the golf when the ball is being putted on the green. This did not happen with my v2 box.

Not sure if it's down to the v3 q box, the latest update or my LG TV?

Re: Sky sports juddering

Hi, I managed to fix it by adjusting my LG tv settings. Sky box if fine, you need to remove the motion enhancement setting on TV.

Set to Game mode (best for golf) then  under Picture setting go to Picture options and switch off  Motion Eye Care.

Good luck.

Re: Sky sports juddering

Please remember every picture mode has separate user settings so if you set up for Game mode you must stay in game mode (or adjust same user settings for another picture mode) also when you change to other TV inputs eg  hdmi, freeview, dvd etc they have diffent picture settings.

So, set up sky (golf) for Game mode. Go to All Settings, go to Additional settings and switch off Eye Comfort Mode as well as Motion Eye Care in my previous post.

Re: Sky sports juddering

Found the culprit of picture freezing and recording failures on sky q,

My lad had his ps4 network settings on 5ghz while the rest of the house was on 2.4ghz.
