Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

Sounds like your Denon doesn't support eARC, or maybe it does? check if there's a setting in the manual. My Onkyo didn't, that's why I use an auidio extractor to extract the audio from HDMI 2's eARC port and covert it to optical which my Onkyo accepts. Luckily my old SKY Q was on optical anyway so I just  swapped it from there to the Extractor Gismo. Sounds amazing and all 5.1 preserved with a proper subwoofer.

Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

Ok sounds great, I'll get a converter box and see if that fixes my issue, thanks. 👍🏼

Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

I've got an arc extractor and well can't get sound from TV still to the amp not sure wired it up right annoying as it's £120 worth of kit.

Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

What extractor do you have? Be sure to set 3 way input switch on extractor to HDMI and have it connected to T.V. on HDMI 2 then optical lead from extractor output to an OPTICAL input on your amp. Finally in Glass Settings > Picture and Sound > Sound > Select Audio Output and change to HDMI eARC.

How come £120? Mine was £25

Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

The converter I bought also didn't work.

all was fine for a few seconds and I thought it was spot on, then started to have issues with picture freezing, and no sound at all.

dint think the glass tv likes the converter. Even without the optical attached to the amp it still does the same.

I tried lots of different settings, and variations of things, changed the hdmi 4 times, the power supply to the converter.

so looks like a new amp for me in the new year.

shame as I thought the £25 fix would have worked

Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

I have a denon av atmos amp, and have the same issue with the sky remote not working the volume of the amp, however I use a Logitech one  remote which controls both the tv and the amp

Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

If you have an amp that supports ARC it can be connected via HDMI to the HDMI2 port on the tv, HDMI2 supports eARC

Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

I have since found out my amp is too old and not compatible with Sky Glass and I'll need to go and buy a new sound system. 😒

Re: Sky glass external av amp issue

Here's the unit on Amazon

 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0892BVB32/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Comes with the HMDI lead you need plus optical lead and usb power lead depending where you buy it. If you want to power it from the Glass USB you'll need an Usb C to Mini USB
