Sky booster cable connection to router

I would like to hard wire my sky Q mini box and sky booster to my router as Wi-fi range is an issue. (Mini box keeps losing connection to main Q box)

Can I get away with just hard wiring my booster to my BT Smart hub 2 so I can get the booster closer to my mini box. Will this work?

Hi @Lee1213

Afraid that with 3rd party Broadband you would need to connect the Q Booster to your main Q box.

For Q to work consistently with 3rd party broadband all Q boxes would need connecting to the Router if using Ethernet

Re: Sky booster cable connection to router

So in essence if I'm gonna run a Ethernet cable upstairs from my sky Q box to the sky booster I might as well go the whole hog and connect directly to the mini box and do away with the booster.

Hi @Lee1213
If you are doing this you can also turn off all WiFi in the Mini box hidden menu.

Connect the Ethernet cable and carry out a network reset in the mini.

Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side.   Do not carry out any WPS and wait for the mini to connect.

Provided it does connect go immediate into the Hidden menu and turn off  both bands of WiFi.
