I realise now, that it would be too much to expect to view Discovery + on an HD box - but there is absolutely no reason why it should not be available on Sky Go linked devices .....
Because Discovery want people to use their app I would assume.

"Run it from here on PC - https://www.discoveryplus.co.uk/channels"
Whilst you are able to view "freeview programs" when logged in to this
Discovery + itself - requires a £4.99 per month "entertainment pass" to view any programs
Why should an HD user NOT be entitled to view Discovery + for free (as a Q user receives for free) ?

These are questions for Sky. Why not ask them? As you well know, we're customers here. Contact the customer priority team.

.......... And pay twice for the priviledge ..... Try it and see what you can view without paying - just freeview channels !
Remember - NO Q login - NO discovery +

Yes - but no reason why it should not be available on-line / Sky Go to ALL paying Sky customers

Here's Sky's answer :
"The Discovery + channel is available via an app on the Sky Q box.
Unfortunately, this technology is not available on the Sky + box.
Sky Go and online streaming services are not available for this service either.
I understand you wish to stay with Sky HD but if you ever change your mind, please let us know and we can arrange this for you."
To which I replied :
"Thank you for your response – however, you have missed my point !
I accept that Discovery+ will not run on a Sky+ box - but why are ALL sky customers not able to stream Discovery+ via https://www.discoveryplus.co.uk/channels for free ?
I have tried and discovered that it requires a “Q” login – in order to view anything other than “freeview” channels WITHOUT paying £4.99 per month……. "
Sky's response was typical :
"Thank you for your further email. We apologise that this content is not available online for Sky+HD customers and for any disappointment this causes"
So its a money making add on - pure and simple - trying to get me to leave HD and sign up to Q

I think perhaps you kiss the point that it is Discovery charging for app delivery not Sky. A one year sweetener has been offered for Sjy customers after that it costs everyone and the money goes to Discovery.

I'm having the same issue a vip gold customer. The free films like Peter rabbit is showing £7.99 when it should be free. There should be a sky vip tab in offers but this isn't on the sky box. Have been on a sky chat but still nothjng

I also emailed Discovery and received the following :
"Thank you for reaching out to us. Since Sky HD does not support third party apps like discovery+ we aren't able to offer the service here. This offer is available via a partnership with Sky, but we are a completely different company.
It might be worth reaching out to Sky to see if they are able to offer you an upgraded service though, I've heard of a fair few Sky Plus customers who've managed to actually save by upgrading to SkyQ.
I'm sorry I couldn't give you the answer you were likely hoping for, but I hope I've been able to assist nonetheless. If there's anything else that I can do to assist, please do let me know, otherwise, I wish you a lovely day"
Which help me - not at all !
I am not interested in Q - I am more than happy with HD - For reasons of money (Why should I pay an extra £12 per month - to watch TV in the bedroom ?
Which is another gripe - why did Sky remove the cable connection (magic eye) from Q boxes ?

No - when you go on MYSKY VIP - It tells you to search for "PETER RABBIT" on the sky box - select HD digital Buy and Keep at £0.00
And anyway - Peter Rabbit was on ITV over Christmas - so hardly worth worrying about
