Sky Superfast router replacement / coverage improvement

Hi,

I have Sky Superfast and a Sky ER115 router. I can not bump my package in my area to Ultrafast or Ultrafast Plus.

The Wifi coverage, even though my house is tiny, is terrible in the room in which I now have to work. I've tried a TP-Link AC1750 extender which just seems like utter trash and doesn't improve things at all.

I've not got boost (in all honestly, I'm not sure I trust it will help) and would really like to replace the router with something with more grunt. However, Sky are threatening that Ultrafast or Ultrafast Plus are coming to my area, and I don't want to buy a router that wont be compatible with that when the time comes.

Would Boost help?

Would a new router be future proof with Ultrafast or Ultrafast Plus?

Thanks for your help.

@dmoth  Broadband boost would give you the SR203, but at the extra cost of £5 a month.

If someone has helped give them Like.

@dmoth when you will get Ultrafast depends on when Openreach installs fibre to your road which could be years away. You can che k what is known  here.

The SR203 hub has significantly better wifi performance than the er115. To be honest in many homes a single router, no matter the cost,  can provide fast wifi in every room which is why there is such aa large market in wifi extenders, mesh sustems and powerline adapters.

All wifi routers run at or near the maximum allowed power so performance differences come from better aerials etc.

Thanks.

If I wanted to replace the router, what are the 3rd party options?

I went for Boost. So far, so good. Today I didn't want to toss the laptop out of the window which is a great start.
