@Morgan+McDonnell @Hi, are you able to tell me what you did. I have a TP link 4g router on 3 network. I can't use any on demand services on my sky Q box. Called sky, 3 & TP link and no help from their call centre staff. I've connected by cable, changed the IP name to 3internet and tried DNS server 8888 now ran out of ideas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

@Justsky321 How do you have it all connected? I've not had to look at any DNS etc settings.

@Morgan+McDonnell @Hi, I have my TP link MR200 router connected via a powerline adapter then the same on my SkyQ box, so cabled through the home power system. The SkyQ box recognises the cable connection so no issues there it seems, and for a while things worked ok but now it's saying "failed remote network problem" I called sky and they said they don't recognise 4g internet as it's not constant and can drop out. By the way I am using 3 network through Smarty. Any ideas I could try. Thanks in advance for helping.

Morning all.
I have sky q, installed yesterday and it's connected through a ZTE three broadband router.
it won't see the 5ghz connection but sees the 2.4ghz and Ethernet.
seems a bit slow when starting the stream/ downloads of box sets but other than that works absolutely fine

@JazTheTim @Hi, what router are you using.

@Justsky321 Hello 👋
I'm using a zte router from three home broadband.
The model is MF286D 4g wireless router.

In which case I'm unable to help. I have no power line adapters and I connect via a TP-Link Deco M4 mesh.
That said, irrespective of whatever Sky say, 4G isn't the issue as there are many people, particularly in rural areas, using 4G.

As I said in my original post you need to have a VPN connection through your router if you want to be able to download Sky content without problems. The reason is apparently related to how Sky manage advertising content. It works fine with my Huawei but even using Express VPN it will cost you £7 a month. Relatively easy to set up and you can Disconnect from VPN when you have downloaded the content you want. It you leave it on it can cause problems with Alexa and channels such as Disney.

@Iain16 @I don't have a vpn. I can download the programmes absolutely fine.

Did you lease it from 3? The price they charge at £23 pm seems quite extortionate. I bought my Huwaei and with VPN over a year works out much cheaper.

Yeah, from 3. Seemed on as I can't get cable etc where I am
