Hi @Anonymous ,
Same here 😞 I think I've read just about every post about this and unfortunately there is currently no viable solution. I also have Netflix through SKY and besides, my little router doesn't allow for VPNs to be configured. I really hope SKY does something to resolve this as many of us are impacted and this used to work fine for years!

Hi
Have just moved to an area of poor Broadband. Been playing with two mobiles, one O2 the other EE, both contect to Q box allowing on demand, Sky Sports etc.
No problems except slow to conect but once thats done plain sailing.
Next step is either to go with BT 4g Home hub, not cheap at £55 pm for 30mb unlimited data. Or, use mobile sim card in my wee mini EE portable router, used to use it in the camper van, and see how we get on.
Living in the countryside is lovely but poorly supported in the IT game still.

PM me. I'm unable to post the link here as it will be deleted but I also use 4G BB due to living in a remote area. I can recommend a company that I use that is £15pm cheaper than you've been quoted.

I use 4g all the time as i live on a boat and cant get fibre. I have no trouble at all with Q and the 4g network except when i try and use a Huwaei router, i havent found one that will work with Q yet and Amazon is testemony to how many i have tried. All the rest seem ok but not huwaei, i wonder if its the governments pleadge to not let the company to too far in?

I use a Huawei router it came with a Smarty Sim (uses 3) so I set it up. It worked reasonably well with SKy Q at first but increasingly got download failed with Sky content (but catchup from others sources worked fine). I decided to switch to EE having read good reports but bought a a 10 gig Sim to test it first. It worked perfectly on Sky Q downloads so I signed up to a contract with EE. As soon as I put the new Sim in the router it failed - No Internet Connection a different error from Smarty which seemed to fail after a few minutes. I read lots of posts about advertising and different servers but one on setting up VPN on my Huawei intrigued me. I bought this service from ExpressVPN (about 6.50 a month) and set it up as instructed - all you need is a user name and password plus some standard setup info and a server address all supplied by ExpressVPN. It works perfectly with my Smarty Sim and probably EE as well but I have cancelled this. Now I can download all Sky material onto my Q box. Express also provide excellent online chat support and a 30 day money back guarantee.

I have a Huwawei Prime 3 4G router. I have very poor broadband over "fibre/copper wire"
My Sky Q will not work on the 4G router despite having 12-16Mbps.
The system says no internet despite being connected to Wifi network, I have also connected Sky Q box via LAN without success.
Tried VPN but failed to set up so far. Not able to enter correct LNS address?
Sky not helpful, they are sending me a booster box which I can plug in via ethernet, but I can not see how that will help. Are there any plans by sky to resolve this, or is it up to customers to fix. The VPN is an additional cost. Should I consider setting up VPN on Huwawei and only applying it through the LAN port? I dont really need it for anything else. Im not overly techy so any help/advice much appreciated.

I bought a DLink router, problem solved.

If you join ExpressVpn you will get three possible UK server addresses. Its 6.50 a month but with the unlimted data of Smarty (at £20) per month thats not a bad deal. You can also get your money back for up to 30 days and they have great online chat support. Others have said that other routers work fine I dont know have never tried any. My Huawei cost £180. I hope in two years local broadband has moved up from the 8Mbs it is around here - I get 35+ with Smarty. But then what will 5G give me?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@rashpal69There is no setting to change Q boxes only need an internet connection usually by WiFi, they do not know 4g etc.

@Hugo+Rugged I have a TP Link router with Vodafone 4G and M4 mesh. Q works just fine. You just need to connect it up in a certain fashion and all should be good.

When you say a certain fashion what do you mean??
Many thanks

You don't connect the Q box to the router. Once you have M4 #1 connected to the router via ethernet cable you turn off wifi on the router. All wifi around the house is now provided by the M4 Mesh. You add a further M4 to the established Mesh (as per the TP instructions) alongside the Q box and connect them via ethernet cable. Do a network reset on the Q box and select the option to connect by ethernet to the Mesh 'whatever you named it'. Confirm and save all before exiting.
So far as any minis are concerned you can do the same apparently however it's easier to connect mini's by wifi to the main box. If connecting minis by wifi be aware they DO NOT connect to the TP Mesh. They connect to the Sky box mesh via 5Ghz. Turn off 2.4Ghz wifi in main and mini. Connect by using the WSP method. That's how mine is set up as advised by the Sky engineer who did the recent home move that required me to move from Sky BB to 4G. All is working just fine.
I hope that helps.
