Hi,
I have sky Q with two sky Q minis, one of which I'm looking to relocate to my garden room.
I have BT as my ISP, my Main box is connected by wifi to the BT router, and the minis current connected by wifi to the main box.
the garden room is definitely too far for the mini to connect to the sky q main box. I have two cat6 cables running from the house to the garden room - can I use one of these to connect the mini, would this work?
Thanks in advance!
Pete

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out morehi @PeteLFC77 as you are with BT then you can't just connect the mini to the router leaving the main connected by wifi but you can connect both the main & mini to the router (or an unmanaged switch)
(or as @bob1234 says connect them directly)
BTW Netflix on the mini uses the connection that the mini has

Thanks, that makes sense - I'll connect to the main box. Really appreciate the help!

Connecting one mini directly won't cause any issues to my other mini that's by Wifi in the bedroom?

Hi all, I have now run the cat 6 from my main box to my mini and I've got newtflix and apps working and can see the tv planner but all channels say programme unavailable if I try to watch. Have I missed something?
thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out morehi @PeteLFC77 I suggest you try a power down reset of your main box :
Use the remote to place it into standby mode
Then remove the power to it (either switch off at mains or remove the power plug)
Wait at least 30s
Then re-apply the power & wait for it to fully restart - this may take a few minutes.

Thanks I'll give it a try. Is it a possible issue that the mini box is my parents spare? Are they locked to stop me borrowing it?
thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@PeteLFC77Very likely, I don't know how they know if they are being used at a different address to the one stated (T&Cs) say it should not be used somewhere else. If it has been blocked it probably will not work anywhere now.

I didn't even think it would be an issue, looking at it now would make sense. guess I'll be buying one from Sky.
cheers
