Sky Q fast forward sticking / jumping back

Hi

My Sky Q seems to have devleoped an issue

When I watch a recording the FF is very erratic, the most consisitent fault is that when using FF ar start it gets to 60 seconds and jumps nack to the start repeatedly, Other issues are general jumping about of the FF function and difficulty exiting FF

It seems to be getting worse and affects recording from multiple channels, the disk is not very full

I have tried powering off for a while and also re pairing remote but no change

The old boxes used to have a rebuild option whuch could sort odd faults but the Q doesn't seem to have one

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi @GaryC1966

Try a Reset Settings in the hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
Press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Hi @GaryC1966

Also try completely resetting your Bluetooth remote.
Press 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes twice and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair.

Re: Sky Q fast forward sticking / jumping back

Hi,

Did you manage to get any where with this? I'm at the end of not smashing the box up!

I've tried a power down and the basic Reset via the engineers setup menu.

Thanks,  looks like mine will be the same!
I did another power down reset now it won't go to the recordings at all!  It just says please wait and when I try to record it says hard drive fault!

Hi @Drumjitsu  You will need to call SKY and talk to an advisor, it looks like you may need a replacement SKYQ box.

I did the hard drive reset and it seems to be working now but obviously I've lost all the recordings ☹️

Re: Sky Q fast forward sticking / jumping back

We have been getting the  fast forward jumping back for the past 2 weeks and it is getting worse. I don't fancy doing the hard drive reset as it would delete all recordings which is a pain. I had bad pixelation issues a year ago and Sky replaced the Q box 3 times, the dish 3 times and moved it once. They also changed all the cables but nothing worked. They claimed there could be exterior interference but could not identify any. The last comment from them was "We have done all we can, you will just have to live with it!"

I am in discussions with Panasonic ( our tv) to see if it is a problem with them. Further tests ongoing. But the latest problems suggest all issues are with Sky. We have Canal in our house in France and we always thought that their equipment was poor compared to Sky+.  The latest Canal box and service is far superior to Sky Q.

  • If you are prepared to accept that, after Christmas, I would contact Sky and ask about a reduced service discount.
Passing on the tips I have learned in over 25 years as a more than satisfied Sky customer.
