Sky Q downloads

I saw my VirginMedia download for the month is much higher than I would expect.

Does Sky Q on demand or downloads of past episodes use the Internet? If it does, then it makes sense about my downloads.

Yes. All on demand, catch-up or app content is downloaded or streamed from the internet to your Q box. Only live TV or content you set to record from live TV comes via the satellite connection.

Re: Sky Q downloads

Thank you. This explains my large VM downloads. Hopefully VM does not object to these - I do not have download limits. I guess VVM must have a large number of customers in my type of situation.

Most home broadband tarrifs these days offer unlimited downloads. If you have an excessively large amount (we're talking hundreds of Gb) then Virgin will contact you but it's highly unlikely.

Might also be worth checking that your router is secure and passworded - just to be sure that your neighbours or anyone else aren't secretly using your WiFi without your knowledge!

I don't know what the package limits are with VM if any but I regularly download several Gb of UHD movies using BT without any problems.

Infact I have never looked to see how much I have downloaded each month.

VM say.

We don’t use traffic management, meaning you can download and upload as much as you like without traffic management slowing your internet speed down. The exception to this is for customers that have agreed to a limit on their broadband usage.
