Sky Q box and internet connection

switching my sky q box on earlier today i get the error message that it is not connected to the internet.  Nothing has been done to change this.  It has been connected via an ethernet cable for months .  A reset has not worked as it says it cant find the IP address.  Using Wi-Fi connection also does not work.  The router is working as it should as all other kit is connected and working as normal.  I have used the same ethernet cable on a laptop and that connects.  have also turned off, left for 30 mins and turned back on the sky q box but same messages.  any ideas?

hi @RichJB.Dev have you also rebooted the router ?

 

If not I suggest you do & then reboot your main box again

Hi.  yes, sorry forgot to add, rebooted the router also.  short of flicking the fuse box switch off ive rebooted everything.  🙂

Getting similar behaviour twice a week but in my case a box reboot (power off/on) seems to bring everything back without touching anything else.   In my case this did not occur prior to Q160 release.

I'm getting the same problem, daily

 

The main SkyQ box keeps losing connection to the Router

 

the SkyQmini then tells me it can't obtain an IP address and everyday (sometimes 2 or 3 times) I have to go through the whole process of resetting everything in order

 

very frustrating and sky help is of no help

Out of interest did this just start happening for you guys recently. I.e. after the Q160 software update ?

Not sure when the update happened. 

I recently moved house and the sky engineer obviously needed to get home for tea because he was gone within 10 minutes

Is there any fix/workaround for the "main SkyQ box forgets all internet connectivity either wifi or ethernet" other than by power on/off?

 

My main box forgets about the internet on average once a week.  None of the steps previously mentioned here (reset, DNS to 8.8.8.8 etc) work.  Only a power on/off.  Nothing else needs to be changed as once it powers back on, the connection is restored.

 

Anyone else getting this?  Or similar?

Could have been written by me,happened before 160 update as well.2 engineers both on arrival have been met with a fully functioning system and left immediately only for it to drop 3 or 4 days later.

I can't find anywhere where I can sort out by SkyQ and SkyQ mini disconnecting on a daily basis. Sky help is less than useless sadly

Happened again - twice to my set up today.  SkyQ main box randomly lost internet and only a reboot allows it to reconnect.  As stated none of the methods mentioned in other threads does the trick.  It's as if the main box has completely forgotten how to connect until it reboots.  

anyone else?
