Sky Q UHD films blacks turning purple in dark scenes
Films in UHD in dark scenes are showing blacks as purple on Samsung Q90r Tv. Any ideas?

Samsungs can display blacks with a bluey hint. Reduce the blue, and in your case also the red (marked B and R) in the White Balance in the Picture settings.

It doesn't do it on Netflix or Prime when showing 4K content on the TV Apps..just sky HDR content.?

You mean just HLG content (ie just Sky's HDR)? It's just one of those things. Change the blue and red in the white balance. That won't impact your HDR on any other sources (as long as your picture settings are not set to All Sources).

I have the same issue and the picture is also very dark when watching HDR content via Sky Q. This isn't a problem with my tv settings. Every other inbuilt app works fine so this is specific to how the Q box is delivering HDR content.

@Andy2106 This has been suggested as a workaround for your tv:
"Raising the hlg gamma in settings..picture...expert settings to 3 seems to cure it for now."
Can't say I've noticed it myself.

Re: Sky Q UHD films blacks turning purple in dark scenes
The difference is your TV apps don't connect to your TV by HDMI whereas your Sky Q box does. On your TV, have you enabled the Enhanced mode, or Ultra HD Deep Color on an LG, or Input Signal Plus (or UHD HDMI Color) on a Samsung, for the HDMI port your Sky Q box is connected to? On most TVs you need to enable HDR via HDMI by turning something on for the HDMI port.

I'm aware of that. And Input Signal Plus is active for the HDMI input my Sky Q box is connected to.
