Re: Sky MER Compatible Modem Router
If you use a single tri-band router then you get 3 wireless bands for clients, eg: how I have it set up is 1 * 5Ghz channel with WPA2-AES and the other 5Ghz for WPA3 security mainly for the reason that not all clients are currently able to support WPA3 security.
Zen internet on FTTP (900Mbps down, 100Mbps up). SAT> IP (Apple 4K 2nd gen TV to LG C1 OLED UHD TV/Dolby Atmos Denon AVR, DacMagic Plus for Hi-Res audio), hosting own blog/forum (cluster), OPNsense & Zenarmor L4/L7 NGFW & DPI IDS/IPS, Asus ET12 Pro Tri-Band wifi, Linux, Gamer: Xbox Series X/i7 laptop, round-robin DNS over HTTPS, non-proprietary VoIP HD AMR-WB (G.722.2) and more... Beta tester Apple iOS/watchOS/tvOS/iPadOS/macOS.

Re: Sky MER Compatible Modem Router
In the 2nd configuration when the AiMesh is shared across the router and node then it is time-sliced, eg: you basically get less bandwidth available for clients than tri-band because even the mesh is time-sliced.
With tri-band wireless with a reserved 5Ghz band for the AiMesh then there is no time-slicing for the AiMesh, eg: fewer latency issues and more bandwidth for backhaul. And 1.2Gbps is available on router and node currently effectively 2.4Gbps for clients 1.2Gbps for each floor in a 2 story building.

@cookiemonsteruk & @Skull+Treaty
It was just an example and just a teaser to get into the subject of wireless meshes and technology. Clearly, it's not a full book...
