Re: Sky HDR

@Maverick1975 , it's not hdr it's an older compatible format with the key being it's royalty free

Re: Sky HDR

@Paulonthetelly I am still confused with it all and UHD vs HDR and Sky probably wont help. I also cant see anything coming up on the program I am watching and saying its in HDR. Just UHD

Re: Sky HDR

@Laing1

I don't agree. Unless it's a hdmi issue then the box is plenty powefull enough to deal with basic meta data. It's just a computer.. If it's hardware, what makes the difference between a box that can and a box that can't?

Re: Sky HDR

@Piesarus I know but i like to be disappointed first hand.. I am coming round to the fact that this batch of HDR i can live without .. but call me cynical but i have no faith that Sky, post pandemic will have  at the top of there list the replacing of the V1 box with V2/3 etc.. because no matter what they have to be replaced..but that will take an unspecified amount  of time to implement at an unspecified date to commence.

Re: Sky HDR

@bob1234 Where can you find that information under settings?

Re: Sky HDR

@Super+Anthony , no problem with what you say but it's not actually hdr it's a compatible format that Sky are using. I get the SD bit.

@Paulonthetelly please give the basis of your comment that HLG is not HDR - no it doesnt require a licence fee to Dolby but HDR it most definitely is whatever you may believe. Think you should check your facts this is a basic explanation might help https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/hybrid-log-gamma-what-you-need-to-know-about-hlg

Re: Sky HDR

Samsung's tend to show "hdr" when you press "info" on the remote top right of screen.  Also Backlight shoots up (mine from 5 to max 20) - you must make sure hdr+ is deactivated

Re: Sky HDR

@Paulonthetelly hdr10 is royalty free. Its dolby digital you need a licence for. You can hlg was a broadcast hdr developed by the bbc

Re: Sky HDR

@Chrisee , I checked my facts oracle. I express my opinion. Sky are on a journey but they don't know where they are going, it's HLG and 5 years old, royalty free and it does not work on my box. Any solutions?

Re: Sky HDR

Re: Sky HDR

@Paulonthetelly  you are wrong.  The BBC and NNK (I may have got the latter wrong) developed this variant of HDR for broadcasting, particularly for live broadcasts but it has been adopted by Sky.

@Super+Anthony  I will post exactly tonight, when my wife relinquishes the TV, it is somewhere under display with four options, HLG, HDR, off and auto. Auto does not seem to do anything

Re: Sky HDR

@bob1234  If it is in HDR/HLG it will show in the picture setting on all tv's.. Brightness Contrast etc maxed out .
