@G+wiz

Not all 2TB boxes can support HDR.  In addition, there's almost no HDR content being delivered by Sky, so a TV connected to a compatible box won't show any difference unless a particular UHD-HDR item* has been downloaded (and, of course, the TV is compatible too).

@Vissy

There have been no recent software updates, probably the last update worked with HDR there was just nothing to watch until the 27th.

Re: Sky HDR

@Vissy  no it should definitely work the q9 try search for the lemur island show it will show the download in uhd it doesn't mention hdr then when you start watching hdr should kick in if your all set up as I assume you would be ie your games consoles etc all display hdr fine

Re: Sky HDR

@GreenLantern  that's correct you need to do a voice search for the shows at the minute

@Rhonny  Rhonny, apologies if this has already been stated (I'm scrolling back from page 48 of this thread to where I last was around page 31) but for me there is no Sky Nature in the channels under Sky Catch Up.

Hi @GreenLantern  The SKY Nature channel starts at Midday and is on channel 130

Re: Sky HDR

@g652wly they wouldn't have swapped a V2 box for another V2 box anyway as it had a known issue with certain TVs so you would have had the same issue

Re: Upgrade old Sky Q 2TB to new version for HDR

It's a fair point @Jimmer007 and having wasted an hour or so yesterday and today browsing that thread, I agree it is heavy going and in my opinion, at times unnecessarily aggressive

but there are many posts on the point you raise and for discussion on this - that's where I would go. I may be wrong and you can see if anyone posts here.  Hope you get it resolved

@bob1234   Not sure you can rely on the Harware Version in Settings - the absolute perfect way is to look at the label on the bottom of the Q box itself.  My V3 box still shows I have a 1TB box, albeit a V2 one.

Do this and tell us what both say;

  1. Press Home on your Sky Q remote
  2. Select Settings followed by System info
  3. Check your Hardware version and use the table below to see which type of Sky Q box you have

  1. Press Home on your Sky Q remote
  2. Scroll to Music then select Your music
  3. Select Play your music using Airplay. You’ll see your box type listed (e.g. Sky Q 2TB Box2725)

Also in a web browser enter

192.168.xx.xx:9006/as/system/information

where xx = the ip address of your sky q box

(you can find that in settings > Network>Network Setup> Advanced settings or it will be listed in your router as an attached device)

What do the following four flags say;

device id  (only tell us the first six characters, the rest is specific to your box)

Hardware mode

bt id

version number

With HLG the dynamic range is in the source material and the processing is done mainly at the TV end.  All the Sky Q box has to do is send a static flag to say the source is HLG compatible and change the colour gamut to rec.2020.  The HDMI chip on V1 boxes are unable to send the static flag, probably because the HDMI channel the flag is sent on is not available on the hardware.

The Sky Q box does not process the content and send an HLG stream to a compatible TV or a UHD SDR stream, it is the same stream.  If you have a V1 box and you can manually set the HDMI EOTF, via your TV settings to HLG like I can on my Pannasonic DX902 and the colour gamut to rec.2020 you will unlock the HLG HDR on the content.  This is not the same as setting a fake HDR picture mode.

Re: Sky HDR

The gangs of lemue island is up and running and can be found on demand or using voice control...over on avforums they are discussing this...the tvs own info button will show if the show is being broadcast in HDR/HLG flag...

the panasonic dx902 tv from a few years ago which is my tv can show HLG and so can the LG's, as people have been posting pics on the forum.

what im pieved off about is sky just saying to V1 owners that you have to wait. for what i  ask..you knew this was coming, you dont plan ahead? we need a proper roadmap as to when we are going to get it at no cost to ourselves

Re: Sky HDR

@GoldenPhoenix  to be fair they probably did have a road map per se, however with the coronavirus decimating the work force I can only assume things have had to be put on a backburner. I bought a 4k sofa the day before lockdown and now I've a 26week lead time to receive it things happen out of our control. I get your not happy but it will and can be sorted
