Had the new v3 box about 5 days and have noticed the sound dropout, had it a couple  of times just watching

programmes and also more on programmes that have been recorded but only when I fast forward the adverts and press play and there's  no sound, plus side on this box I can pause and record dave which my v1 wouldn't,  better

picture,hdr, so I can put up with sound dropout until there is a software update

Hi all

If I upgrade my V1 2TB box to the newer V3 one, will the UHD program quality improve as well as those in HDR?

Registered email at the beginning never received. Selected upgrade on Sky Q box just redirects to sky.com/hdr website which redirects to the sky shop where there is no mention of UHD upgrade.

 

Edit found if i go into shop the option is there, although still reluctant to pay £50 for something that was promised on original signup

Yeah I have the same problem and have been told I need to call Sky to discuss, which is a challenge in itself (albeit understandable in the current climate).


If you go via your account on the Sky TV, I do believe that process works, I would just like some reassurance that I would get a V3 version box.

there are no assurances that you will get a V3 box as the V2 box does exactly the same as the V3. 

 

the difference is cosmetic.  the V2 still has the silver stripe on the front and an external power brick.  the v3 is all black and no power brick.

V2 has a silver stripe on the front and an external power brick.

V3 is all black with no external brick.

As mentioned earlier the V2 box has a silver strip round it and and external power supply, the V3 box is all black and has an internal power supply. Also you can check the model number on the back. V2 is ES240 and the V3 is ES340d8uk (1TB) or ES340d9uk (2TB).

hi,  i just received my HDR box swap today,  are the 2 remote controls the same size/width ?  my previous box remote never had the blue voice control button but this one does,  i put remote cover on,  but the remote cover(Sky Q branded) does fit my new remote control. so far,  be sides this i've just no problems so far, no sound dropout etc but i do use Sky Soundbox so dont know if that has anything to do with it.

Checked my Sky q 2 Tb box, ( 32B064 ), it is on latest firmware but says I can't get HDR.  I would need to do the £25 "upgrade" for a new box.  OK, I can take that.

 

What happens to the current box - do I send it back or do they take it when new box arrives?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

 

The check for HDR compatability on the SkyQ box help said it was £25?  Ha!  Silly me, that was a 1Tb box!  Yes, £50 for the 2Tb box.

 

It says self install, so just unplug and plug in new box?

As asked, what do I do with old box!

 

Still got a lot of stuff on old box to watch, ohh well!
