Re: Sky HDR

@apolloa  I will bring that into it as I also work for a global corporation and we had immense difficulty and red tape just sourcing 1500 laptops and monitors I work for HSBC by the way(mortgage advisor) we have furloughed lots of our staff due to this and that's with us working from home have you ever stopped to think where the majority of the boxes have been manufactured ie china so the difficulties in production and logistics may have taken abit of a hit. I never said that sky aren't working but they aren't running at full numbers are they  Sky too are making home visits for emergencies your HDR isn't an emergency!!! You complain but you still pay if you don't like it go elsewhere. Go take your hissy fit offline and think of the people dying around the world atleast you can still view TV you sad pathetic excuse of a human

Re: Sky HDR

@Zaim99

Dear Customer

I understand that you are unhappy that you are not getting HDR in your Sky Q Box.

I would like to inform you that to watch Sky Q in HDR, you’ll also need an Ultra HD or Sky Q experience Subscription, and a HDR-ready TV. To see if your TV is HDR-ready, check your TV manual or manufacturer’s website:

If you’ve correctly setup your TV for HDR, you might see an alert flash up on your screen for a few seconds when you start watching HDR show.

"In the coming months we will be able to support a box upgrade if you have an older 2TB UHD box (model ID 32B0xx). In the meantime you can continue to enjoy all our great content in Ultra HD Standard Dynamic Range (SDR)."

I hope this information has helped with your enquiry. If you require any further assistance, you can reply to my email.

Re: Sky HDR

@apolloa  It's a fact Sky has been having supply issues during this pandemic i.e. they had to stop sending out Q Minis as supplies dried up. Your posts do not come across well at all, lots of faux indignation and very much me me me. Sadly this phenomena appears to be a part of modern life. I cannot see anywhere in my Sky contract that states I am paying for HDR? It's a feature Sky are introducing as part of a phased rollout. You will get your upgrade in the fullness of time. Believe me you're not missing anything and while it's okay it isn't as sharp as DV.

HDR via the Q box is certainly different whether better is a personal opinion, I found it too vivid however that may just be the samples Sky chose for us.

Reading these last few pages, with new people having turned up spouting the same indignation and hostility, makes it feel like the first 100 pages never happened...

Re: Sky HDR

So it seems Sky are promoting that their UHD service includes HDR.

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/watching-sky-q-in-ultra-hd

They do admit that some of their older boxes don't support HDR and provide a link which is useful for identifying which box you have.  But there is no menation of the '2TBv1 Upgrade Journey' or in any statement of intention that they intend to address the discrimination.

If they can't provide a service equally to all those that are paying for it then they should not promote those features.  I was okay with the concept that feature was under test, not fully rolled out yet but I don't like the idea of them promoting it as part of a service that is not availabel to all those that pay for the service.

Cheers,

Nigel

@TheDeathOfRats  I am not sure how much different that is to promotion UHD when people with the original 1TB box can't view it. There is however an expensive upgrade option for them.

No, I've got a 2019 LG Oled and it is set up properly. You're right the iPlayer content was via the TV's inbuilt app.

Don't forget that on LG sets each source (apps, HDMI1-HDMI3, and HDMI4 depending on model) can have different picture settings for SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision. As a baseline copy the HDR settings from an input that has acceptable HDR setting to the one Sky Q is connected to.

Re: Sky HDR

@TheDeathOfRats

Their article is full of caveats to make it clear that not all viewers can watch in HDR. They're not trying to hoodwink anyone. And as has been said 1,423 times on here, everyone is getting everything they're paying for - there's nothing anyone has signed up for in their contracts that Sky isn't providing.

And before you ask, I have a V1 2tb box and cannot get HDR on Sky, so it's not a case of "I'm alright, Jack", its a case of "Get a grip, everyone - you'll get an HDR-enabled box by the time it actually matters!"

1,424 times now...

@Lp12man  I cannot understand why your post hasn't attracted more interest.  It would be good to know what TV you have for the benefit of other members.

I recall @tarbat extolling the virtues of the HD Fury, prior to when Samsung released their HDR-HLG Firmware on their J & K  series TV's.  It was a tad too expensive for me at the time so went for a Roku Streaming Stick + and subsequently an Amazon FireTV Stick 4K.   These of course are not suitable for Sky HDR-HLG, but given the "HDFury Linker" can currently be had for £132.29 on Amazon, for those V1 members (enthusiasts) is this a small or large price to pay?  If I was in the position of having a V1 box, I think I'd splash out, once it's been confirmed it works.  I only say the latter because you say "you think".
