Re: Sky HDR
@Roger+Peters surely it should be just as much (if not more) about content not just PQ. I will happily watch programmes in SD if they are good. What about all the real classic sitcoms e.g. Only Fools and Horses, Rising Damp, Porridge, Open all Hours etc. etc. Truly great comedy but also in SD.

@Zaim99 wrote:I've just tried Lemur and the HDR is very disappointing, the picture is dark and looks a lifeless to me.
The HDR impact i get from 4K blu-ray and Netflix/Amazon are lightyears better.
My TV is the Sony KD55XE9305, its definitely on HDR HLG when viewing Lemur on sky.
Anyone else in a similar boat?
I have seen it on a Q90R and it looked every bit as good if not better than any HDR i have seen .. i have a GZ2000 and it looked better than DV on that or at least it's equal... and it was very Bright and detailed.. makes me want Sky HDR even more.😂

Re: Sky HDR
@Zaim99 My Sony is dark also. It's because my tv is only 700 nits apparently and you need at least 1000. Try putting the picture on vivid.

Re: Sky HDR
Totally agree, but for some it's all about bragging rights. The phrase "all fur coat and no 🩲's" springs to mind..
Content quality always seems to take a back seat in discussions about the latest tech on this forum🤭

Re: Sky HDR
Yeah i've got mine set to Vivid, even with the colour cracked up to 65 and live colour on high it still looks lifeless, pop in a 4k Blu-ray or view netflix its a completely different experience (with Blu-ray taking lead over netflix of course).
I have got sky set to 2160P 10bit as well, HDMI set to enhanced on the TV.

Re: Sky HDR
Is your TV definitely stating it's playing in HDR? A dark screen is always a sign it's not set up properly (it's always a Sony that gets the dark HDR complaints on here and invariably there is something not enabled correctly).
You don't need to crank anything up on HDR. It's all automatic.
(And it's not a V1 box?)

Re: Sky HDR
Yep its defintely on HDR, in the picture menu it shows its displaying in HDR, only seems to be on Sky, everything else works perfectly.
I've even tried changing the HDR mode manually to HLG.

You should not need to adjust settings for HDR it should have the correct settings for viewing HDR which should be plenty Bright and Vivid to not need adjusting.

Re: Sky HDR
@Zaim99 I'm not as technical as some on here so forgive me if this suggestion is simplistic. On my Samsung Q90 the HLG picture looks "murky" if my picture setting is Movie. It works best and is very vivid and bright when the picture setting is Standard or something else, can't remember. Also when set to Movie or Dynamic, I can't alter the HLG level, it's greyed out. I'm wonder if it's something to do with Picture Settings on your Sony?
