Re: Sky HDR

Hi Calibrated my TV yesterday because when I watched a HLG download it seemed to vibrant.  Almost not natural.  After the calibration process the picture is now spot on.  HLG HDR  look stunning now.

Looking forward to more content.

Re: Sky HDR

Hi My opinion is if u have a fault with your Sky Q box and it as to b replaced and u have a V1 u should b upgraded to the latest model and if your Sky Q box is the latest model that's the one u should have not a downgraded one.

@rawhide1I am not sure about upgrades but I certainly don't think you should get a downgrade

Re: Sky HDR

@rawhide1 I have just had my box replaced and I am having constant issues with it

 1. Black screen even though it says my box is on

2. Blue screen with a picture but no sound and missing colours

3. Black screen even though I can see all the menus and the channel I am on

I have even done a hard reset today along with several software updates. It seems Sky have done an update but refuse to maybe accept that it has made things alot worse

Sky said they would call me at yesterday at an agreed time but got no call

I am getting to the stage I might have to complain to people above Sky as this is not what you expect

I have been very impressed with the service but now I am not happy

I do have to say they do have some excellent people who you can talk to and care about their customers, but sometimes you feel there are others who just take you for granted and just want your money.

Re: Sky HDR

We have decided to try the isf expert 'bright room' setting on our LG C9 (so that should please some people). We can probably live with this. We are also content with 'cinema home' for both Netflix and HDR on Prime. However, try as we might neither the wife or I can live with the user preset 'cinema mode' as it's simply too dark for our lounge which is a very bright room.  Age could also be a factor as to our eyes this setting makes everything look drab.

Not sure this is the right thread to post on, but I wonder if a Sky Q app for streaming on smart TVs is on Sky's roadmap. It would solve a lot of present and future 'is my Q box compatible' issues 🤔.

There is (or at least there was) a Q app for Samsung Tizen and Apple TV released in Germany quite a while ago.  However if this was intended as a testbed for wider release, nothing seems to have come of it.

Interesting - it'd be good if it found its way to UK at some point (so long as they make a version for LG TVs 🙂).

@planearm your box is a v2 box and supports HDR however it is not the latest type. See https://www.sky.com/help/articles/check-which-sky-q-box

And even that doesn't show the V3 boxes!  Sheesh - I give up 🙂

Calibration is recommended because LG's default settings for the HDR modes is pretty horrendous because the backlight and contrast don't have to be at maximum. It's just a pity the guy that calibrated my TV didn't have the gear to calibrate Dolby Vision as well.

Re: Sky HDR

@Jbscot

Hi. Netflix app on the sky q seems to be still without hdr. I have the update, only sky downloads uhd have hdr

Yes. No-one said the Netflix app on Sky was getting HDR.

- the ones we discussed the nature programmes (nothing from the previous uhd on demand range offers hdr like the new gangs of London ).

Correct. Only the three new nature series downloads.

ive compared programmes with the app on my tv (the app has hdr) sky q app is not updated. This is the same for Disney. Will this remain the same

Just these three nature series have HDR!!

Sorry, your own post in that thread  says the hardware version 32B206 is the v3 box.  Sky don't reference the ES numbers on the labels on their box pages, presumably because it's easier for users to check on screen than root around under their boxes.

Re: Sky HDR

Just thinking how sky could fix this positively for v1 box holders.

how about releasing a mini that is 4K hdr then v1 holders could have 4K in 2 rooms and don't lose their recordings. Reaction from my family to box swap was "not again, let's not bother don't want to lose recordings for lemurs! You've got loads of hdr on Apple TV!"

Then v2 and v3 users would complain that v1 users could watch UHD in two rooms when they couldn't. Oh and that also depends on the v1 box being able to stream UHD content from the main box to a mythical mini...
