Re: Sky HDR
@Super+Anthony The pop-up is on my LG C9 TV, Sony might not do the same thing on their TV's.

For those with Samsung TVs, when HDR kicks in the backlight goes up to maximum. That's how you can tell. So look at what your backlight is on when watching 'normal' TV, then see what is when you watch HDR content. Mine jumps from 7 to 20. It doesn't say HDR anywhere (unless you're watching Amazon Prime).
@Rhonny Thanks for that tip, I gave it a try. My Samsung must be a bit different from yours as the Backlight setting goes from 0 - 50. On normal TV it is at 35, when watching the lemurs programme it jumped to 50.
PQ is very good but I'm kind of used to it now having seen a lot of HDR content on Netflix, Amazon & Disney+.

Re: Sky HDR
@Super+Anthony I don't get any clue with my Sony apart from the picture looking different and more vivid.

Re: Sky HDR
If Sky isn't putting any information on the screen that a programme is available in HDR, how are we going to know which programmes are available?

Re: Sky HDR
@Piesarus if your watching Netflix etc through the TV apps you don't need deep colour enabled I would definitely double check to make sure that deep colour is enabled and check your box again to make sure it is compatible as I too have the C9 and get the HLG HDR pop up in the top right of the screen

I'd expect that will change once there's a meaningful amount of HDR content available and the box replacement programme is further developed. Not much point drawing attention to it when there's not a process in place yet to replace the v1 boxes.

On LG sets, if Deep Colour isn't set to on and an HDMI port detects an HDR signal it puts up a banner stating the setting has been changed and an option to restart the TV to lock in the change.

Re: Sky HDR
@simon194 I get that but I was asking if he's definitely done it as you can also click no which may have been done by accident and through the native TV apps deep colour doesn't need to be activated so if he's been watching hdr through the native apps then he might assume deep colour is on but not actually on. If that makes sense lol

Re: Sky HDR
My fault people. I had not set the Lemur programme to download in UHD format. The C9 is now displaying the HDR/HLG icon. I find the content a tad overly saturated for my tastes.

Re: Sky HDR
You should be able to adjust the picture slightly to suit you, and these settings should stay for next time HDR kicks in.

Re: Sky HDR
If your tv does not support HLG then I guess it won't work. Mine does so just downloading a doc to see what happens. Because of my internet I will get bak to you next week.
