@JOHNxEIRE wrote:- in the meantime if the Netflix app was HDR enabled it'd tide me over til then as having dig out an inferior remote to access it is a major gripe of mine.
You can't access Netflix that often if you have to dig out the remote.

Re: Sky HDR
Can I just cancel my current subscription and order new one. Have a short gap in between as I am not using heavily with no football!

@Paulonthetelly wrote:@JOHNGALLEY , you are correct in what you say Sky knew what was going to happen. They do things like impact assessment, but they are not interested. Too many people guessing what the outcomes will be and when. Two new channels with HLG content, hohoho & this is the revolution. Believe in better, I do, Netflix, Amazon, Disney then Sky in that order..... the Sky fell in
For somebody who doesn't rank their pay-TV service of choice very high, you're certainly appearing very upset with things. If, as you say, it's the least preferred service of yours - why are you so bothered?

Re: Sky HDR
@JOHNGALLEY Very honest. I know I haven't always been good at negotiating but my son is a tight fisted individual and taught me much at the time of contract negotiations. Ironically though he's having a purpose made room built in his house right now for playing his guitars and for his newly designed HTS and is well and truly brassed off now because he's got a V1 box. His contract came up after mine - mine came up at the beginning of March but didn't think about this either.

Re: Sky HDR
Get the discounted price on new contract. Alternatively they just post me a new box and they keep my £90 + per month.
pro actively they could have written to me said they had major update and gave me options. Currently can't even find a telephone number to call. Web site just sends me round a loop!

Re: Sky HDR
@JOHNxEIRE Where did you glean that from my post? I would pay if Sky introduced a HDR package but obviously I would prefer it if it continued as it is at present

Re: Sky HDR
Sky will need to be extremely careful how the deal with this problem as Amazon is circling to out bid them when the PL rights are up for renewal and any other sport for that matter and they can outbid anyone they want easily. Considering neither Disney or Amazon charge for 4K HDR content above the normal subscription price that creates a problem for them as well
I suspect that's why Sky have created Sky Studios and the new channels as sport won't be the cash cow it once was very soon

Hi @Lp12man It's a gamble, wait for Sky to build the ES140 (V1) 2TB Upgrade Journey or wait three months for a new install. Also remember you have to give 31 days notice to cancel. My bet is on the ES140 2TB Upgrade Journey being in place anytime from two weeks to two months but who knows!

Re: Sky HDR
As long as it is not end of 2020 as they said in Jan!
anyway will start watching the back recordings so can shut down if movies start in hdr, that would be the trigger for me if they are out / announced and still no route.

Re: Sky HDR
I've just read this entire thread and it strikes me that some people appear to have far too much time on their hands currently. Thanks to lockdown, I'm one of them, clearly.
Following the initial disappointment at discovering I'm harbouring a V1 box, I'm not that fussed, truth be told.
On the list of Must, Should, Coulds of the world, this one is way way down the bottom for me.

Re: Sky HDR
im more concerned about when they start boradcasting sport or the olympics and movies in HDR...i know there is some time before those things are introduced, but this open ended .... upgrade path in time...is that a month, 3 months a year...its terrible communication which ever way you look at it...they need a proper clear and concise timeline with exactly what and when is going to happen with V1 owners..is that too much to ask???

@gems+151 @gems+15
Not sure I completely agree. I have a 2015 panasonic tv and a couple of years ago it had a hdr update. Its just software. If its down to hdmi then that's different but I don't think that's the case

Re: Sky HDR
I have the ITB and it as an internal power supply I downloded HDR content from Sky Wild and I can deffinately comfirm that the content does play HDR as my TV output changes to HDR HGL.
