@bob1234 your tv should switch automatically to HDR mode - on my Panasonic  the screen becomes noticeably brighter when the file starts to play and it displays an info tag with HLG. Try the TV's info button as on most TVs thst shows the current input signal.

Re: Sky HDR

I have a v1 2tb box and an LG B7 TV - no HDR. I know it's HKG compatible as I get it through iPlayer. Quite disappointing really - will sort out when all the Covid stuff is out of the way

@JT1961, you could be waiting a considerable time, another debacle . Launch channels failed on take off

Re: Sky HDR

How do you contact Sky to ask about a box swap (or at least register disappointment)?   You just go round in circles on line and they refer you back to this forum. No online chat or phone numbers offered.

Re: Sky HDR

@hudsonk  according to Samsung's UE55MU7000TXXU page on the website you only receive HDR 1000 it may have had an update to allow HLG so check your software on the TV is up to date if it is up to date if say your TV isn't supported so regardless of the sky box version it won't work

Re: Sky HDR

Sky Nature is not listed in the epg but I have downloaded the lemur docu from the catch-up menu.

Don't understand people saying the pic is brighter. My picture is noticeably darker. Excellent quality though. My tv is a Sony Bravia FX8796.

Re: Sky HDR

@jhoneyball  just an update Samsung's main page doesn't mention HLG for your TV so I would say it doesn't support it so the box won't make a difference. It only mentions HDR there's a later model than your TV which also doesn't support HLG and only HDR 1000 so I would say your TV is too old for the format

Re: Sky HDR

@hudsonk

Those Samsungs, like mine, were updated to allow HDR via HDMI so yours should work if your software is up to date. But I'd suggest you have a V1 box so it doesn't matter about the TV.

Re: Sky HDR

@Rhonny  what does HDR via HDMI even mean lol all TVs regardless of hdr format display hdr over hdmi

Re: Sky HDR

Typical Sky launch. Penalise your longest loyal customers, early adopters of Q etc. I've got a 2TB ( 32B057 ) box which is not compatible with HDR.  Not impressed ......

Re: Sky HDR

Re: Sky HDR

@planearm

If you have a Sony:

Your TV should automatically display HDR compatible content. However, to view HDR pictures:

  • Use a Premium High Speed HDMI cable for 18 Gbps.
  • Set HDMI signal format to Enhanced format.
    1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select External inputs in the TV category.
    4. Select HDMI signal format and set to Enhanced format.*

If you have V1 box, you will not get HDR HLG.

As I mentioned in my post 522 above, the official Sky webpage lists the Sky Q models that can show HDR.

The check which Sky Q box you have webage has been updated with HDR information;

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/check-which-sky-q-box

The important part from that it now officially states the Sky Q V1 box is not capable.
