Sky Comedy access gone

Hi

I have been watching the Righteous Gemstons on Sky Comedy. I tried to watch it last night and it said i need to upgrade my subscription to watch...

i havent changed my TV package but i have removed HD and UHD from my account via customer services as i wanted to make sure it did not impact my sky tv at all. I was assured it wouldn't...

So i'm confused as to what has happened and would like to speak to Sky to get this sorted... i sent a tweet yesterday but no response.

Advice appreciated on how i get get a message to sky to investigate!

Hi @Collinsc 

Removing the HD pack means that you cannot view or download HD content (apart from free to air channels)

First check that you are not trying to Download HD content without the Q HD Subscription pack.

Sky Signature includes BoxSets and Entertainment channels only in SD as standard.
Only free to air channels such as BBC, ITV etc are in HD. The Q HD pack is required for all other Sky Signature HD content, including Catch Up in HD, On Demand in HD and BoxSets in HD
If you do not have the Optional HD pack you need to change the Download to SD in All Formats.
So that you do not need to do this every time it’s best to change your Download preference to SD in Home - Settings - Setup - Preferences.

Then if you want to download any HD content from free to air channels (BBCHD ,ITVHD etc) you can select HD in the All formats tab of the content . This will change the format for that particular download only but still leave your format to SD in preferences.

thankss ive just changed it to download in SD and unfortunately it is still saying "to watch this channel please upgrade your subscription"

Hi @Collinsc 

Exactly what channel and channel number are you trying to watch.

The Preference settings is for Downloads from Catch up etc.

To watch channels you need to subscribe to the channel you are watching.

If you have only just removed the HD channels they still may be taking preference in the TVGuide.  
I have HD here and Sky Comedy HD is Ch114

SD Sky Comedy for me is Ch 814

You need to make sure the channel you are watching is not the HD one

ahhh ok...

so i have just checked and i CAN access Ch114... so that is great...

so then comes the quesstion how can i access the episode of TRighGems that i need?

I have it on my catchup box... and yes this looks to be HD... and so understandably i cant access it...

however when i search for the programme i cant find it... all it shows is the episode in my catchup... which i cant watch....

Hi @Collinsc 

Have you already downloaded this previously in HD.

If so you need to delete it.

Then try and find in again having set your preferences to SD

Yes it was downloaded in HD.

I have just deleted it... and searched for The Righteous Gemstones and can't find it at all

Righteous Gemstones seems to have disappeared from On Demand which suggests that Sky have lost the broadcast rights for the moment. It would appear that both seasons 1&2 are now available to purchase on Sky Store, Amazon & iTunes so you'll have to pay for them if you want to watch them now, or wait for Sky to negotiate a new licence. 

Interestingly season 1 is still available to stream on NOW until May 31st...

Very disappointing, they lost Curb Your Enthusiasm, now this (the Ashes!), i've had to remove HD and UHD from my package because of costs, disappointing the prices keep rising and removing some basic TV.

Yes I agree I was in the middle of Righteous Gemstones then couldnt find the next episode. I ans everyone else pay a lot of money each month for the Sky subscription and lame excuses like Sky lost the licence isnt good enough. It doesnt happen with BBC and they cost a lot lot less than Sky and dont charge for the luxury of HD and UHD. Come on Sky please stop ripping us off.

It's not a lame excuse. It's a fact of life with pay TV.

Sky only get the VOD rights to programmes for a certain length of time and it's down to the studio/distributor whether they renew the rights when they come up for renewal.
