Silly question Superfast/Ultrafast

FTTP now available in our street and have tried on a few occassions to order the update to Ultrafast. Sky are only offering Superfast which I dont think is FTTP? is it? We know FTTP is available as out next door neighbour has it installed.

@DDa1You will have to wait till Sky update their database on what is available at your address before it will show as being able to order it through Sky.

@Highlinder Cheers, assume Superfast is not FTTP? Drives you mad, half the street have got it so may just be SKY database as you say

@DDa1

Confusingly, 'Superfast' (up to 80Mbs) can be delivered over FTTP, and at addresses where full fibre cable is available ISPs should use FTTP as a matter of policy: this is part of the pathway to rendering copper obsolete.

Even more confusingly, 'Ultrafast 1' (up to 150Mbs) can be on either copper (G.fast) or FTTP depending on the local Openreach infrastructure.

'Ultrafast 2' (up to 500Mbs) has to be FTTP.

@TimmyBGood  I was not able to see G.fast available to me till after the FTTP cable install was complete and the database update was done. But had already been on superfast and was on it when the FTTP cable install was done in my street.

@Highlinder

G.fast is a dead-end anyway, and at least one significant ISP stopped selling it last year in part because it causes too much consumer confusion to be worthwhile.

Quick question. Are you trying to upgrade online? If so, it's a known issue for existing Sky customers only being offered Superfast online when Ultrafast has recently become available.

I was in the same position last years but a call to Sky got the upgrade sorted.
