Setting up Asus RT-AX86U
Hi, I have just got an Asus RT-AX86U and tried to connect to Sky fibre Ireland. No matter what I've tried I can't connect. I have searched the sky forums but everything I've tried doesn't work. I have tried wireshark but I can't get any username or password. No settings seem to work. I don't want to flash it to the merlin firmware in case I don't need to or I have to return it.
Can anyone guide me through the settings for my router please?

Re: Setting up Asus RT-AX86U
Is that a dsl router or just the router. What modem are you using ?
Sky Stream , Sky Superfast, SR203 router, Tp link td w9970 + Asus RT AX58U (backup), Xbox Series X, google home mini, LG 55 inch uhd tv, with Dolbyvision, samsung a5 2017 and samsung s21
If I get it right mark as answered
If I get it wrong humour me
If I say something you like give a thumbs up

Re: Setting up Asus RT-AX86U
Is the modem up and running and you just need to bridge. Or do you need credentials for modem as well as bridge.?

Re: Setting up Asus RT-AX86U
Thanks for coming back.
I read on another forum that I don't need a modem as the ONT is the modem I just need the credentials to set up the asus router.
New to all this so bear with me.

Re: Setting up Asus RT-AX86U
FTTP in Ireland uses PPOE and you're correct, no modem is needed as you have the ONT in place.

Re: Setting up Asus RT-AX86U
@Skull+Treaty & @cookiemonsteruk
Thanks both.
So it is a matter of going through the the asus set-up options for PPOE
using XXXXXXXXXX@skydsl | abcde1234 as your credentials.
Anything else needed?

Re: Setting up Asus RT-AX86U
Have a look at this one, it might be the user name & password from the other thread was incorrect
https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband/Sky-Ireland-Siro-change-of-router/m-p/3607937
The details that Sky gave you are to access their hub, so will be useless to you

Re: Setting up Asus RT-AX86U
Thanks @Skull+Treaty ,
Username & password of that last thread worked.
I also had to configure the VLAN setting of the Asus router using the following steps
Configure VLAN for the Interface
1. From the web GUI, go to Advanced Settings > LAN > IPTV tab.
2. On the Select ISP Profile field, select Manual Setting.
3. At the Internet field, key in the VLAN ID provided by your ISP.
For example, Odyssey Fibre requires you to use VLAN 10 for Internet connections so you have to enter 10 on Internet > VID filed.
4. Go to Advanced Settings > WAN > Internet Connection tab.
5. Select the correct Internet connection type according to your ISP connection settings.
Using all of the above I got it working!!!! thanks for the help.
