Scam phone call

Hi! I received a phone call on my landline at 7.30am stating they were from sky and my broadband would be shut down in half hour due to people using my IP address for illegal action. He asked me to access my computer, I questioned where they were calling from and what department to which he said sky technical support. I hung up and dialled 1471, there was a number which is similar to sky. Has anyone else received a call?

@Rebeccarebecca This will have been a scam. It is a method often reported on here I'm afraid. You did the right thing.

@Rebeccarebecca  As per @Daniel0210  100% Scam, Sky no any other ISP's would call you like this and certainly not for that reason.

This is a very common scam that does get reported on here quite a lot. You did the right thing by hanging up on them as the thing to remember is that Sky would never call you out of the blue like this asking you for access to your computer. Another one that goes around a lot is when they ask for your financial details so again should you receive any just hang up on them. You might be able block some of these via the Sky Talk Shield.
