SKY GO tries to open and constantly crashes on my laptop. PLEASE HELP!!

Actually it seems i've finally solved my problem by erasing completely windows, starting from a completely blank (formatted) disk. The classic windows reinstall/repair hasn't been enough for me, so i went from a format disk after made a USB boot. 

Thanks for the support everyone, if you were like me, no success for anything suggested, you know that there's a drastic solution for it.

Just wanted to add my experience and solution.

Mine was working fine on Windows 10 Pro, but after I did a clean install of Windows 11 Pro no longer worked.

I too have BitDefender, but I have the full paid-for version

It has 3 different types of exclusion - Antivirus, Advanced Threat Defence, and Online Threat Prevention.

After some trial and error, I determined that only one of them needs to have the exclusion set - Advanced Threat Defence

My Sky Go is crashing on my laptop. It opens then disappears!  Any help grateful received. Many thanks

Try uninstalling the Sky Go app and then go to 'C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming (ensure hidden files/folders are visible) and delete the following folders:

Sky
Sky Go

And if it is present the Cisco folder is App\Data\LocalLow.
Empty your recycle bin.

Reboot your PC and then download and install the Sky Go app again.

Mine did the same. Bitdefender Antivirus was causing it. I had to add C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Sky\Sky Go\Sky Go.exe to the exemptions list. "username" being my pc name.

FIRST... are you using bitdefender?... if yes read on! 

I have contacted and requested a solution form Bitdefender.......from what I can tell thus far, its not a sky issue. If you turn off Advanced Threat Defense on the Protection page SkyGo app will start. I have found without exception the app starts, plays and downloads..... but ensure you turn it back on after SkyGo has started for your online protection, or pointless paying your money to Bitdefender!

This works on both Windows 10(19043.1288) and 11 (22000.258) windows versions. I have tried to find the necessary exceptions and tested many obvious folder and file exceptions, including all the above, none have worked for me;

however I have a 3rd pc running windows 11, that is not affected and required no intervention as yet. This is running a dev build (22000.282)

I will update this thread if I get a helpful response from Bitdefender.

I had recently had this problem, used the app last weekend, no problem. Went to start it today nothing doing, goes to start, then crashes. The only thing I had done differently was to renew my BitDefender Total Security. So knew this could be related. Thanks to the threads on here I looked into it more, and found indeed that if you go to Manage Exceptions in the Advanced Threat Defence section, you can add "c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\sky\sky go\sky go.exe" replacing "username" with your own. This worked instantly.

Update to my previous post... just installed update 21.8.2 and at least on one Windows11 device, issue has resolved without workaround for me. Hope you all get a similar experience!

Not sure if this will help anyone but I was having the same problem. I did find 2 Now TV folders under the roaming folder and removing these fixed the issue.
