there are many reason for repeats of many programmes & fillms
Some channels such as Gold (formerly UK Gold) are targetted at nostalgia TV & show programmes that feel the audience want to see.
Satellite TV channels broadcast at specific times & have a full schedule to fill - usually 24hrs rather than streaming where you look through a catalogue and choose what to watch now.
If you look at SKY Cinema there are multiple channels so you have more choice as to what to watch at a specific point in time - which gives more choice than say a single channel where you would have to wait for a film to come round.
That all said viewing habits have changed particularly with the inroduction of streaming.
Broadcasting is limited by 'rights to braodcast' which cost so not every film / programme is available at any one time
A big factor affecting SKY Cinema in particular but also other SKY Entertainment channels, however, is the start of Streaming by the likes of Disney + where they limit what they release to other platforms such as SKY and rise of Netflix & Amazon Prime which now compete with SKY for the rights I mentioned earlier
I am sure there are many reasons I have not covered
A big fact
