Refreshing my 90yr old Mother-In-Laws Sky configuration

I'm "refreshing" my mother-in-laws sky technology.

We're moving her from BT Telephony to Sky Telephony with broadband. We're very happy with this. She would find the migration from Sky+ to Sky Q too much.

However I'm going to visit her for a few days to help her manage the transition and show her how to video chat etc on her new iPad.

So I'm thinking I should update her Sky+ HD box to a Sky hd box drx895

I don't actually have sky myself.  I don't want her to physically touch the box to get the details of her box . How can I get the box details from the user interface.

So changing her sky + hd box is this a wise plan?

The only boxes you need to look for are the DRX890 and DRX895 (including all variants), these will have the latest software (last updated about 1 year ago)

@bettyh02 Bare in mind she would lose any recordings saved on her box.

Thanks for the reminder and She'll be reconciled to losing access to her existing recordings she deletes things once she's watched them

I subscibe to the view. However she's been on this configuration so long and external changes mean that things will have to change. And if I'm already there for the broadband activation and install - I might as well put her on the best latest Sky+ Box

Annie - I found the answer I was looking for in your FAQ

Q08 How do you find the software version of your set top box?
Use the following procedure:
Press SERVICES on your Sky remote control
Go to Settings
Press 3

The software version is the Model Number in the format R000.000.00.00P
