Re: Recordings stop before the end of the programme
ps. Proof, shared with the world many years ago by an anonymous sympathetic insider. As the BBC is publically funded it's fine to share here.
I do not have a sig other than this message. SkyQ.

@Federica-C , I don't know if you have any contacts in the BBC's scheduling department, but it's those people who need a nudge if you would be so kind for us, not just the technical people!
Hi @mr.tickle,
Our platform management team has been in touch with BBC schedulers regarding this. The issue seems to be caused by the BBC Weather slot, which is scheduled as a separate programme for 5 minutes after Newsnight daily. This used to be a short forecast in between programmes and was therefore not listed in the EPG.
According to BBC, billing the weather separately after Newsnight was an editorial decision as for years it wasn’t even mentioned in the Newsnight synopsis. So viewers are now able to see that there is weather after Newsnight.
Following our reports, BBC schedulers have now made changes to the way the recording works, so that it shouldn't stop when BBC Weather kicks in.

Re: Recordings stop before it’s end
Hi,
having read all all this info, it is helpful. However, I have had the ending of 3 programmes missed, probably due to overrun in the last couple of weeks. I appreciate the padding setting noted above, but 10 minutes will not cover what I am missing-and that is maximum setting.
this is happening in particular with darts showing on ITV4. This is happening repeatedly and I am missing half of the final game (which I find out when it simply cuts off half through the match).
I cannot see anyway to stop this unless I manually ask the box to records hours of ITV4 that I really don’t want.
Please can can someone investigate why it seems itv4 are not scheduling this correctly to ensure my sky box picks up the entire programme? Or what can be done to stop this in future. Extremely frustrating given the expense to have sky services.

I'd suggest you take it up with ITV, as they're responsible for their programme scheduling.

Re: Recordings stop before it’s end
To be honest, its only an assumption that it’s itv scheduling incorrectly based on previous comments on this page.
i expect my sky box to record the programme I request it to. The actual way this is done and the format it uses to do this, is not my concern. I pay sky a lot of money for a service, to be able to record programmes that I wish to watch later, if this is not working correctly I expect them to find a solution.

Re: Recordings stop before it’s end
Well it's easy enough to confirm it one way or the other. Changes to the schedule are the responsibility of the channel concerned. If they inform Sky, Sky can change the TV Guide accordingly and adjust the recording time. If a recording ends before the time it's scheduled to end in the TV Guide, that's a different matter and IS a Sky issue.

Re: Recordings stop before it’s end
Exactly the same problem with the recording BBC 1 10pm news - keep missing the last few minutes. Please can you get your platform management team to speak to the BBC schedulers again.

Have you added the extra 5 minutes padding to the end of all your recordings in the Sky Box settings?

Wow. Just - wow. I knew there was a lot of core features missing from SkyQ, but I'm gobsmacked. Definitely no SkyQ here until that feature is added, it's HEAVILY relied upon for very obvious reasons.
