Hi all. Recently upgraded to Sky Q 2tb box just to access UHD sport, on days like today (T20, Super Sunday Football and F1 ) it doesn't get much better!
Like most I'm miffed why there is no UHD banner next to the HD and S (subtitle) banner when you see programme information within the TV guide (you have to select the programme then select "other showings"). . . . So so long! Anyhow I've conceded that's what I have to do to set the UHD recoding if I'm unable to watch it live unless anyone can tell me a quicker way?
My second issue involves me using the Sky+ App on my phone to set a recording if I'm unable to do it at my box (say if I'm away from home). There is no "other viewings" sections within the app so I can set a programme to record in UHD. Has anyone found a way around this?
Funny enough in the settings menu under audio/visual and preferences you can set the default "on demand" download format to UHD but you cannot set the default format for all recordings to UHD, very annoying!
Any help/advise much appreciated!

@TimmyBGood understandable but iPhones can facilitate 4K/UHD.

thanks for this UHD insight. When watching live you just press select and UHD is offered. Great.
However when I watch a recording it doesnt offer the select option of UHD
do I have to access the UHD content from a different location. I've checked other showings and both gf and uhd are flagged to record.
So in summary I can't access uhd on recorded content. And I don't know why. Or how to fix it.
Huddersfield town fan at Wembley next week. Wanna watch recording in UHD

@krispyp9999 you can't watch a recording in UHD if you haven't recorded it in UHD. So when you set to record the playoff final, make sure you hit the record button on the UHD option, you'll have to do this on your SkyQ box itself as you can't do it from your phone.
Under settings theres an option to default all recordings (and downloads) in UHD where available. I'd recommend you do that 👍🏽

No iPhone has a high enough resolution to display anything in 4k. Because of this, Sky Go will not do anything with UHD. The other problem is that Sky Go does not know if the TV in use supports just UHD or UHD/HDR (HLG). If the box is set to 1080i, there's no way for the box to report back that the TV can handle HDR. There are a lot of factors why this isn't being done.

Thanks for the kind reply. I checked that the preference showed as UHD., it did.
I checked a live game this weekend and when I clicked "other showings" the UHD option wasn't showing.
I chose the do a software update and like magic the UHD option appeared.
Thanks again for your help
