I, like many, am very disappointed to learn that Ashes 2021 has gone to BT Sport. I do not have BT sport so please advise any way that I can get BT sport onto my Sky subscription for two months. I have contacted both Sky & BT Sport but the options are both complicated and in some cases very expensive. The prime problem is that I want to record the Ashes overnight to watch the following day,(either TV or laptop) avoiding all radio and Television best I can. My sub with Sky is for Sky Q including Sky Sport channels but without multiscreen(£10pm/18mths), which according to Sky I would need to have, at least!
Thanks
Ian

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThe Ashes are continuing on BT Sport as they were when England last played down under. If you want to record them then either taking out a sub by Sky or even BT themselves will be the only option open to you,

Thank you. I have done that but as I said in my original post I would need at least to subscribe to Multi screen which, as I only have one TV + laptop I do want to commit to 18 months @ £10pm just to be able to record, plus the monthly cost of £25 pm (Sky) or £29pm (BT), which I am willing to pay.

Having Multiroom isn't a requirement to be able to record, if you have the relevant BT Sports sub and can record all other channels then you shoud be able to record from BT Sports.

Thanks GDI. This is not the way Sky explained it to me, yet I did sense that they were not sure. BT also told me the same. I now have a dilemma. Do I risk subscribing to the BT Sport channels via Sky at £25pm?

It sounds though both companies are trying to get you to spend more money with them because you do not and have never needed multiroom to record any channel via Sky that you subscribe to, so the choice is yours now as to who you pay to access the BT channels. If you decide to go with BT you will be able to record as you would if you went via Sky.

Thanks again.having researched again on Sky I note that the multiscreen option is required for "remote" recording i.e. Laptop etc. Therefore I assume Sky would regard the BT Sport software to be "remote". Maybe?

@nolte Not sure if you received my reply. I have only used 5% space

No, BT Sport is recordable on Sky Q just like any other channel. No software or app involved. It is very expensive, though, IMHO, unless you have BT broadband.

@Mark39 Thanks. Now you mention it BT did mention this, but unfortunately, I do have a Sky contract that includes Broadband, so yes it would be extremely expensive to switch now. Maybe this confirms what both Sky & BT have told me.

That isn't correct either as you can set a recording for any channel remotely without a multiroom sub and that includes any BT Sport channel.

@caesarome Thanks for your input I refer you to https://www.sky.com/help/home/sky-tv/sky-tv-q/using-sky-q/recordings-and-downloads/how-to-record/art...
and
How to record
You can schedule a recording for a TV or radio show up to 7 days before it airs. Simply find the programme you want to record in your TV Guide and press Record.
Not at home? No problem. Download the Sky Go app and download or record shows straight from your phone or tablet to your Sky Q box*.
*Sky Multiscreen is required for this feature.
As ever is this contradictory or just confusing?

No. As it indicates in the Guide, it only applies if you're trying to schedule a recording via the Sky Go app.

@Mark39 Thanks I had spotted that but as I mentioned in one of my earlier posts I wonder if Sky treats BT sport the same as the Sky Go app?
