Potential scam call - internet speed
I've just received a call, purporting to be from BT Openworld, concerning my internet speed. I raised this issue with Sky a couple of weeks ago but this was the first I'd heard from BT (who apparently are responsible for the network) I was unfomfortable providing information and access and so ended the call. Was this likely to be genuine or a scam? The BT WHOLESALE page looked genuine enough but I'm uncomfortable committing to something I'm not sure about.

Re: Potential scam call - internet speed
Typically Openreach don't contact ISP subscribers even after a complaint about speed has been lodged, so you're certainly right to be suspicious: the scammers know that most people would like 'better' internet and use this to their advantage when perpetrating their criminal activities.
Incidentally although BT Group still own Openreach they are organisationally separate businesses with different branding, so anything which conflates the two is even more dubious, and 'BT Wholesale' is different to both Openreach and BT the telco/ISP.

Never give info to people who have unexpectedly called you. Whether this is a scam or not is hard to tell but its best to be safe a phone back directly on a known safe number
