Spent several hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue with Sky.
I brought 4 accounts in from Vodafone and several days later some of our calls and texts are still going to the old Vodafone phone and the Sky temporary number shows for those people when we call or text. It is nothing to do with google as Sky tried to tell me, these are android phones, so the numbers are not in the phone like iphones. My belief that this is out there in network and not a phone setting, so who can actually fix this?

It didn't work! It reverted back to temporary sky number and chat messages are still lost to the old phone. So .... I requested a replacement SIM card, which has now fixed the issue because it has my number on board and not a temporary number.

I would have thought there would be a setting somewhere that shows the number the phone is using, I have no idea where it is ut it is worth investigating incase they are showing the temporary number.

So.... following another trail from another site, I have been able to find the mysterious original Sky sim number in google messaging services. I had to force stop it and then it allowed me access to change the phone number to match my ported number. Now waiting on process to verify, which could be 5 days apparently.
