@Angrier2 wrote:Watched the re-run of MOTD on-line this morning , picture quality for all games fine , except the Brighton /City game that was covered by sky. All the long range pitch shots are ,like watching standard def.
Now I am trying to watch (online again) the West Ham /Tottenham game. I know its not a slow connection etc, as the studio shots are fine , the close up pitch shots are fine. But the pitch wide action shots are appalling. Sky are clearly using a different camera/technology for these shots. Its like watching cartoons. There is no definition, no detail. I have just about had enough of this seasons poor quality. After many years of watching sky for the football its now become unwatchable. I cannot imagine BT sport has the same problems....
Watching 'online' is usually not going to be as good quality as on your TV (most modern tv's). Could you have not watched the West Ham v Spurs game on your TV in UHD as, for me, the picture was very good ?

If you re-read the my post , there was absolutely nothing wrong with the close up pictures they do during the game, or from their studio , its the pitch wide camera that is using something else...
As for Not using online - sky would hope you have that completely wrong , considering they have now moved away from satelite to "Sky Glass" which is using online !

Sky Q will be around for the foreseeable future so Sky are far from moving away from satellite.
Anyway regarding the football picture quality, it was fine for me and most others judging from the lack of complaints on the forum. Not saying you didn't have a problem mind..sometimes it just varies from one person to another.

Terrible picture all of today, juddering as the ball moves yet as I watch MOTD2 there is no problem at all?????

Whilst we know satellite is around for the foreseeable , that is not what we are talking about. Sky have started advertising Sky glass an internet based within TV sky box they are selling. So there are no problems with watching TV over the internet and I have none.
Merely sky using a different tech either with the camera they are using for pirch wide shots or in the broadcast (HDR) or otherwise.
This makes the picture look like standard definition and is a backwards step.

@Angrier2 You obviously have not been reading the sky glass forum then as there have been a lot of complaints about the picture quality on the football.
If you feel strongly about the issue you might want to send an email to sky at viewerr@sky.uk

Yep mines been the same since August too and I have a 4K tv and other people I know have same issue even through Virgin so it's not the box.. No response from sky. It's as if they can't afford the top quality cameras anymore.

I have a shocking picture on my sky sports HD channels, been trying now for 6 days to correct the problem, all to no avail, fuzzy picture it looks like a SD picture, you name it I have tried it, I have 12 days of my cool down period left, and in. All honesty it looks as if I will be leaving I am not putting up with thease rubbish quality pictures, And before any one says it's my TV it's not, I have a beautiful Panasonic 55 MU700 TV, this problem is down to sky, buggered if I am going to pay £46 a month for this, V/M fibre optic looks the way to go.

If that was the case, we'd all be moaning about poor picture quality! I'm watch Chelsea v scum in UHD and it it sharp & bright - no complaints at all

Which particular sports events/channels are you referring to ?
I have not seen an issue of recent events I have watched ie cricket (HD) , Golf (HD) and today's football in UHD

Sky sports hd is now sd. Absolute scam. Trying to get everyone to upgrade to uhd. Profiteering ! Absolutely disgraceful !!

How do you work that out? It's only on the football ! Everything else is fine. Close up pic is fine. Standard pic is like SD!

Agreed the poor picture is restricted to the most important pitch wide shots when watching the game. Any studio or close up shots are fine, tells me they are using a different camera.
