Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@BIG24FAN The pucks and the Glass TVs operate independently but I would keep the TV powered when not in use as the pucks will check you have the TV on the same network at intervals.. powering down devices like the Glass TV is not recommended as it will miss updates.
You need a strong steady wifi signal as well as fast enough broadband so it is possible to have connection problems. Ensure the pucks are getting a decent connection to your router but over 40Mb/s at the puck sounds ample as long as there is no strong interference. .

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
I have cancelled the puck and bought humax pvr. The puck was for my bedroom mainly for Wife. She doesn't watch sky and it saves £60 over the two years.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
I'm going to start the process to return my Tv and pucks today. The Play list feature is the deal breaker. I had mistakenly assumed that recording to the Q box was in effect being replaced by recording to cloud storage. In effect this it just linking to Apps such as for channel 4, and it turns out I can't watch a programme even though it was broadcast live in the past hour as it's not yet showing on the App. It's hopeless, I wonder if Sky actually carried out any research into how people actually used the Q service. Such a disappointment

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
A postscript. I just spoke to Sky - an exectionally helpull guy (should have got his name) - arranged for collection of the Glass hardware next wek and re-activated Q as of today.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
I would say rather than reserching how people use Q they have reserched how people use streamming as this is a streaming service aimed at a whole new generation if customers that consume everything using streaming apps, for those traditional viewers that use Q and watch and record broadcast TV they are still selling Q,
i think the problem has been that not enough information has been provided in advance by Sky as to how playlist works for traditional users to make an informed choice before ordering.

That makes 100% sense *if* they weren't limiting it to customers who had VIP status initially (i.e. people who already have Q). They should have targeted people without Q.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
Maybe some lessons to be learned on understnding the balance between current and new target users. Though I wonder whether the business model to in effect be the integrator of streaming apps is a good one long term as it is relatively easy to replicate.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@bdavbdav I think that's a mistake on Sky's part, however you have a choice; you're not being forced to take Glass as Q is still being supported and with the advent of the app soon on Apple TV it will add another string to the bow for Q.
Sky seem to be being quite honourable in reverting to Q in the main, and many have said they got a better deal.
It's fantastic for those that can now get Sky for the first time, a few have posted here at how much they love the service, but many customers have "upgraded" without knowing what they were getting in to, again partly Sky's fault due to some misinformation in the way the system works, but also due to the fact that people like shiny new tech toys so tend to go for them ASAP before too much critical, real world info is available (and I'm often guilty of that myself).
The decision to migrate to Glass is theirs to make and in their own time, but at least the ability to revert to Q is still there if it's not suitable for them.

And if they'd done that, this forum would have been full of complaints from long-term subscribers (so-called VIPs) moaning about not being able to order a Sky Glass TV and complaining that new customers are being given priority.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
The problem (IMHO) is that the playlist is what lets down Sky Glass.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@tarbat - I think that's down to positioning of the product - I've ordered glass as I couldn't get Q due to dish positioning issues. If I could have Q, I'd have no reason whatsoever to order glass, I'd stick with the Sony OLED and be very happy. I don't think you'd get those complaints if they'd been honest and not marketed it as a direct alternative to Q, but a complementary product for a differing situation.

Unfortunately, that video ignores most of the complaints about the playlist function.
