Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@94  I've done all that but they aren't budging, will not offer any sort of recompense for disruption to service as it's not a failure! I really can't do much more, it seems some are getting refunds and some aren't, again it's a case of they aren't all following the same route, and to be honest, they really don't seem to care, I have been with them over 20 years (more fool me I know) and still have no commitment to satisfying customer requests, albeit very sympathetic noises just no action

I agree there customer service is shocking I've been with them over 15 years and always get a fight on my hands normally, I've emailed them today as when I recontracted in a great deal it was for 18 months I had my email confirmation stating this obviously we now have a slight increase but I've noticed my offer in my future bill is being removed!

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Kei+M can you please try and inform everyone at sky about this as so many different staff all say different, I cannot get anyone to acknowledge this is not a connectivity issue, also wehy some customers are being compensated for the pixelation issue

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Lanzarote2013, it's been 25 years for me and I'm still amazed and impressed that they got BSkyB off the ground in the first place. How do you sell a complete new TV distribution system to people who don't have the means to receive it and there;s little or no content waiting for them if they did. It was a massive, visionary investment by Murdoch which deserved to pay off.

So I have always cut them some slack. Whatever problems I've had which have been Sky's fault rather than mine have been few and far between: and they always got fixed. Until I switched to SkyQ, my +HD service was running immaculately and without issue for years. And even now that I'm complaining about pixellation, audio drop-outs, spontaneous rewinds and the inexplicable abandonment of the Reminder function, it's true that 90% of my viewing is unaffected - and the other 10% is still watchable even if it's annoying.

I'm still regretting switching to Q; but these issues will be sorted out and then my Sky TV service will be the best it has ever been. I already have a sackful of new goodies to compensate me for the 10% of grief - like a (partially) bluetooth remote, voice commands, multiple concurrent recordings, 4K, apps, etc.

But I won't be going back; and nor will I be abandoning Sky which I assume to be the best TV platform available (not that I've tried the others). So nil illegitimae carborundum…or as my son used to say: Patience is a virgin.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I've just had a lengthy discussion with a Sky advisor after my post stating my pixalation issues. He has admitted that it seems to be a known software issue that will hopefully be fixed in the next update which is currently being tested.  So fingers crossed we might not have to wait too long for a fix.

I have asked him the question about compensation and I'll keep you posted re his reply.  Fingers crossed.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

When I first started this thread I thought it was just me going through this issue

Hopefully we see an update very soon and this annoying issue is finally sorted..it is seriously overdue

@Ant1328

I got a call from a lovely sky specialist who read me the notes the first update will focus on pixelation on recordings and on demand I believe, then they do know about the issues with the sound drop where it pauses and repeats but looks like that is not going to be included in the first update, she is going to call me again in two weeks and I am making notes of the issues between now and then, she was very understanding and I was given a very generous gesture of goodwill, it's all down to who you talk to and having patience along with understanding it's not their fault they can only give you the information they have access to.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Just adding myself into having same issue. Really bad on ITV HD and BT SPORTS. Hoping the update that's being discussed arrives soon!

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Having the same issue here.

Had Sky Q installed Nov last year and everything was fine, recording the world darts championship on uhd & hd at the same time, while also watching it on the mini box upstairs with not a single hitch.

Recorded the darts (i do enjoy the darts) on ITV4 in February? and was watching it on the mini box..after a few minutes it paused, pixilated and continued 🤔 so I rewound it..it didn't do it a second time! It happened again a few minutes later..then a few minutes later..

It's still doing it now, just watched 24 hours in police custody on the mini box upstairs, a few pauses & pixel annoyances.

I have also noticed it on the main Q box, although it's nowhere near as bad, still annoying though.

Really hope that the talk of a firmware fix are correct because it puts me off watching stuff on the mini box.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@royston1974 It is indeed very off putting to know that whilst watching a programme/film/sport it can pixelate, pause or lose sound at any moment. I have contacted watchdog a couple of times, I believe many other people have been in touch too.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Blackie1892  shooting off a message to watchdog sounds like a good idea, I'll find their email addresses and let 'em know what's been happening to me.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Michellemcnamara That depends. I heard yesterday from the Sky TAP (technical) team via my visiting SkyQ engineer that there are two updates coming. Q150 doesn't fix any of our problems while Q160 allegedly fixes at least the audio drop-outs and pixellation issues. They also said that they were looking at bringing Q160 forward so that it would be the next release.

The ISPReview article sounds like Q150 but it may be Q160 that ships, rebranded as Q150.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Q150 was uploaded to my box yesterday so I tried watching a recording from BT Sport on my mini. Pixelation issue occurred twice in half an hour which is an improvement as it used to happen every 2 to 3 minutes. So it's better but still not perfect.
