Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I've had the same pixelated image issue on one wireless mini box since November/December 2020. Only on recordings. Before then it was working fine. I have the SkyQ 2TB UHD box and another 2 minis and router connected via Ethernet to an Ethernet switch. I will check if the wired minis show this problem.
I have an engineer visiting tomorrow, although external visit only. See what advice I get.

question; how does one know what version of Q UHD 2TB box one has ?

I have around 6 visits but they cancelled my next visit until someone can enter the property but it won't do any good as we all agree it has to be a software issue 🤨

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I have also posted similar behavior and I have the most basic and straighforward setup possble, all Sky Q gear and all on stable WiFi, 10 connected devices.   Do you think every installed Sky Q/mini combination has this problem to some degree ?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Yes I agree it seems to be a software issue. I'd like to see if I can pick the engineers brain. Not much hope though !

@Oharedm

reading through this thread, it does seems like the problem is quite specific with some variations in whether the issue is with wired or wireless connections

Exactly the same issue here.

Although, as an example I've observed a similar setup at another house and it has no problems. Only difference being, router is BT Smart Hub with BT Broadband and the SKY Q box being the one with a silver strip ( not sure what version that is )

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Michellemcnamara  The problem is that some boxes do not appear to automatically update the software so they could be on old versions.

My mini boxes didn't update but as I wanted Amazon Prime o them I manually updated.

The pixelation started that same evening.

I do agree though that it may be a combination of factors based on router, mini box software and main box version / software version.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Sky Customer Services have confirmed it is a known issue and being worked on, but do not have a resolution timescale.  They have refunded me a months worth of minibox subscription as a token of goodwill.  If it's not resolved in a month's time I will be requesting further goodwill.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

That's great for you. I've been offer a £5 a month increase in my subscription.

I suffered from the DHCP issues on my router (another thread for that one) and now this pixelation yet they insist they need to increase subscriptions as they are constantly improving their services!

An absolute joke of a company with zero customer service skills.

Why not simply leave if you're so unhappy. Even if you are still in contract ask Sky to release you from your contract early. I can't understand why folk put up with services that fail to meet their expectations.

@JFDIT
yes definitely worth putting point across to sky to credit loss of service, they have done it in the past for me.

@Piesarus  Because for the majority of my 20 odd years with Sky things have been fine.

Its only when things go wrong and you need to call Sky things get frustrating.

If this isn't resolved soon then obviously I will need to make a decision.

The 20 years you refer to is in the past. It's what's happening right now that matters and if the service is below par then there's little mileage in putting up with it. It is after all your money.
