Thanks for the reply but not in a position to do that. I'll wait for someone to give me the affordable option for the moment

Hi @Tracyosy

HDMI to Scart Adaptors are available but afraid the quality of viewing will be very poor.

Hi @Tracyosy

Picture Quailty will be so poor that you really should invest in another telly

@Tracyosy

Might be worth checking if the set has S-video,  composite or even component video inputs: these will typically be round ports.  HDMI from a main Q box to any of those (through an adapter) would be somewhat better than SCART, and a Q Mini box actually has a dedicated mini-jack output port to facilitate such television input.

@TracyosyYou mentioned child if it is for a second TV off a mini box, mini boxes have an AV output on the mini jack socket although you still need the cable, Sky no longer sell them, but may give better quality than the HDMI to SCART conversion.

Unfortunately there are two types that look the same but are connected differently, (the two contacts furthest away from the tip are reversed) I think the ones intended for Nokia work.

Re: No HDMI slot

Leaving aside the picture quality issue, you're likely not to get a picture at all, due to the HDCP copy protection blanking the output. The dongle would have to break the protection for it to work and some do, but they can't advertise it, so you have no idea until you've bought it, which isn't practical.

Your best bet is to just get a new TV. You can get small "HD Ready" 720p super cheap ones from the supermarket if money is tight, which will have a HDMI socket.
