New user
Hi I'm changing over from BT to the full Sky package after being with BT for 16yrs, due to the loss of a lot of channels I watch.
My question is I'm signed up for superfast broadband 68-74mbps, TV and Phone, I currently have the latest BT Homehub with 4 ethernet ports and very good wifi. I hoping they send out the Sky Hub SR203 as the wifi is better reading the forums. I know you can plug a ethernet switch into the older router, but not ideal as another device.
Just wondered if the Sky Hub they mention on my order is the SR203 4 port ?
Thanks
Dave

Re: New user
You'll be sent the Q hub (ER115) unless you signed up for Broadband boost or you have Voip calls with your package instead of standard pstn

Re: New user
@hypnotist did you not read the link I posted? That sticky post was written by the forum manager so we can answer qustions like yours and is still current. These are the circumstances whereca SR203 hub is issued:
1) where a customer has bought the Broadband Boost bundle which customers dont always realise they have done but they will be paying for.
2) where a customer is buying a connection over full fibre system (FTTP)which is normally Sky Ultrafast but where customer opts for the slower 80Mb/s that is sold as Superfast
3) as @jamesn123 wrote where a customer orders a Superfast service on an exchange where SOGEA is offered. Here the voice service is provided over IP meaning aSR203 is required as that supports Sky's voice solution. Only a relatively small number of exchanges are involved and before the switch was agreed you would have had to answer questions over the phone about having access to a mobile and whether you had any alarms using the copper phone connection.
4) where someone orders a Sky Ultrafast over copper, where that is offered, where a similar SR204 is sent as that is the only model with a G.fast modem
All other standard orders for Superfast or Essentials get a er115 (or a reconditioned er110 which is an identical model with an on board power supply). You may get lucky but I very much doubt it and don't bet on being able to blag one by complaining as that hasn't work when tried before. Sky like BT want more cash for the best technology.

Re: New user
Hi yes I did read the sticky post.
I was asked if I had another means if the power went off to ring the emergency services, I am going to be on superfast, Not a problem I wait and see what comes in a day or two and then take steps to resolve whatever they send.
Thanks
Dave

Re: New user
As regards to a switch, not a issue I have a box full here in the workshop, I build computers and setup networks, just reading here why the SR203 is a far better router for wifi than the 115 is which a mate of mine has when he joined last year and the wifi is terrible compared to the BT Homehub 6. We await what comes and go from there.
Thanks for your replies

Re: New user
Seems the web reviews were indeed right, both my Cousin and myself received our shiney new SR203 Routers today, seems thats the new router being sent out for new sign up. Which is good, but a shame for for those who signed up earlier in the year and got the 2 port 115. Wonder if they will as the 115 users ask for one they will send one out ? I doubt it but stranger things have happened, but the cost would be a major factor, and until they pack up? Bit unfair if sky only offer it as a extra £5 a month.
Maybe time to update that sticky post on which router will you get ?

Re: New user
@hypnotist are you getting the landline through the router or still through a master socket? SOGEA orders always get the SR203. @Mark-Br do you need to edit the post about the SR203 availability if @hypnotist is correct and the policy has changed?

Re: New user
Next month the first big tranche of exchanges reach PSTN 'stop-sell': after that all new orders from any ISP in those areas will be provisioned with VOIP, so a voice-capable router will increasingly be a basic requirement rather than an add-on and it may well be simpler just to ship them by default.
This also brings to life the scenario long predicted where there will no longer be new 'phone' lines available from those exchanges, and anyone wanting just a voice service will be required to have broadband even if they don't realise it's there.

Re: New user
@TimmyBGood hence the question to Mark.
The stop sell order only applies to only a total of 170 exchanges out of roughly 5600 even after 5/10 according to this page A far larger number of exchanges support SOGEA ordering but not sure of the number but think it is still a minority so would be surprised if Sky would have stopped shipping er115s to all customersfor thst reason . However they may have run out which is why the article may need an edit.
Certainly not seen pists where a fuslty er115 has been replaced by a SR203.
