New mini box problem

I have two miniboxes. Just received the second one today. it's hooked up but I can't switch off the tv, change channels or volume.

I've set up the remote control, I get to 'Finish' I'm told the remote control is set up. Then I'm sent back to the beginning again with 'no satellite connection'!
