New channels I hope soon

  • I put sky on but with repeats and old stuff I get a bit fed up.Im sure you could get quite a few new channels without documantry stuff 1970 movies I'm sure you must give us things to watch that's a bit different.There ain't many music channels MTV is pure crap nothing like 1988 a newer music channel Ike older MTV news interviews live tour dates all info.Come on give us something new sky is quite expensive.

Sky don't add channels, the owners have to pay Sky to add their channels to the platform and the owners control their schedules and what they can buy the rights to show and/or comission with their budgets.

 

The only Sky controlled channels are the 'Sky' branded channels (plus Syfy, E!, and joint ventures like Lifetime, Blaze).

I'd suggest it's essentially impossible for a satellite television music channel to be financially viable these days: a huge chunk of what was once their audience now find the idea of consuming a playlist they don't have absolute control over to be simply inconceivable.  Given that every data bit carried over a satellite link has to be paid for by the channel owner, it's a really expensive way to reach an ever diminishing number of viewers.

 

As you mention MTV: worth noting that was broadcasting to the UK before the World Wide Web was invented...

When all said, Sky TV is optional, if it's not value for money for you then it might be worth dropping channels or the TV pack altogether.
