Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
"I think the set-up GUI in the link @cookiemonsteruk provided is for the V1 or V2.
if what you're seeing is a a turquoise colour in the set-up menu, it's likely the V3.
In the ISP drop down, do you see two VDSL options for Sky?
VDSL_Sky(MER)_VDSL
and
VDSL_Sky"
I'm pretty sure my Modem is a version 4 from the label underneath but now I'm back on my Sky Internet, I cannot see what the GUI says. But yes, it's turquoise colour and yes, I see those 2 items

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
Right then I thought I was getting somewhere and indeed, think I have made some progress. However I simply cannot connect to the internet using my PC (Windows 10 64-bit). Daft thing is it tells me it is connected to the internet but it isn't. OK, so what have I done so far: -
- Sorted the Modem exactly as mentioned previously. Seems I'm already on the latest firmware for it - TD-W9970(EU)_v4_210220. After that I then removed the Computer Network Cable from the Modem and placed it into Lan2 of the first Zen (Router). I'm thinking after setting up, it was no longer required by it
- And then I connected another ethernet cable from LAN 1 Modem to WAN Router
- Using my phone's internet data signal, I downloaded the Asus Router app and fettled the first Zen as a Router.
- Then LAN 1 from the Router to WAN on the 2nd Zen (Node) and fettled that, as part of the AI Mesh.
See Screen Shots - thanks @jamesn123 : -
Current Firmwares on the two Zens are: - 3.0.0.4.386_25790-gd414187. This surprised me as these don't appear on the Asus website and I cannot "downgrade" to 3.0.0.4.386.42095 as I had no internet
Tried connecting using my phone and can do so to the 2.4 wireless band and sure I can connect to the two 5Ghz ones also but haven't tried as yet.. But I'm getting absolutely no internet through my PC whatsoever. The Zen Router shows solid Red and the Zen Node shows solid White. The screenshots seem to think it's a user account issue or a password issue, but I cannot fathom it out. But my PC says I have Internet Access!!
So I'm back on Sky's Internet again asking for more help - if you need anything more to diagnose, please ask away 😁 Thanks once more

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
The firmware that you have on the Asus XT8 is well out of date, you will need to download that from the Asus site. If you search on Google for 'Asus XT8 firmware' and pick the version mentioned previously that is an updated and stable version for the mesh and Asus XT8's. You can manually apply the firmware by visiting the Administration->Firmware in the Asus interface.

Re: New 3rd Party Router - To Improve WiFi
@mae-3 Yes but I can't install until I am online via ethernet and I'm struggling with that. I'm not updating the Zens using my phone's data or wireless connection. I have of course downloaded the 3.004.386.42095 firmware as mentioned earlier but I cannot upload it due to the lack of an internet connection using the new kit - hope I'm making sense.
