Interesting full time commentary is fine, though in game commentary was seriously muffled/distorted.

Re: Muffled DD/DD+ sky sports uhd

Since switched to optical which allows both DD/DD+ to work flawlessly,

Maybe I need to re check hdmi connection.

Soundbox does not support DD+ so should be set to DD in Q box settings

BT Ultra Infinity. Apple Time Capsule. Sky Q 2TB watching UHD through a LG OLED55B7 and listening through a soundbox. Multiroom with 2 miniboxes

DD was one of the settings I used yesterday-only optical had decent commentary sound.

Re: Muffled DD/DD+ sky sports uhd

Just had his very issue. Rebooted the sound box and it sorted the issue out. Also ensure the HDMI lead goes in to the arc port on the TV.

Re: Muffled DD/DD+ sky sports uhd

I bought a new soundbox a couple of days ago and found the dialogue very muffled on many of the movies went watching through the HDMI link but they were fine through the optical connection.

I initially fixed it by changing the Digital Audio Output setting in the Sky Q settings from Normal to Dolby Digital.  This worked fine but weirdly, when I tried to watch the following day, dialogue was muffled again but when I changed the setting back from Dolby Digital to Normal again, this fixed it!

Maybe different moves need different settings or maybe the box needs a reset/setting change to get it working properly sometimes.

Re: Muffled DD/DD+ sky sports uhd

Hi, I have a similar problem. I got mine last week and the initial setup was perfect but then I have been having an intermittent issue where there is no sound when DD is on but there is sound when set to "Normal". Optical from the TV works fine and so does Bluetooth. Interestingly the Sky Q always defaults to DD when powering on each day? I wonder if there is a way to keep the settings rather than having to change it everyday but then I guess there is somthing wrong anyway as to why DD/DD+ works intermittently?

Hi @DVR101

When a movie soundtrack is encoded and compressed in to a Dolby digital or Dolby Digital plus format , the engineer tries to put different sounds into different speakers within either a 5.1 or 7.1 format

I don't have an 8 separate speaker setup but I suspect these are circumstances where a "7 separate speakers plus a sub" Dolby digital plus setup separates the sound in a more meaningful way than the soundbox

The Soundbox has some trickery but the left speakers are only 12 inches away from the right speaker and I think that's why with some soundtracks it simply can't cope with what the sound engineer is trying to achieve

Re: Muffled DD/DD+ sky sports uhd

For me this is resolved by taking out the power cable for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in! But clearly Sky need to look at this!
