Definitely miss sold, new adverts now aren't claiming all the points as when Sky Glass was first released

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThe latest advert with the wizard bloke is so ambiguous. The glass shows a screen I don't believe even exists!

@Jayboy1990 I have to admit I've not seen that, only radio adverts

I just spent nearly an hour trying to get Puk to work.........seriously, Sky Glass and the multi room PUKS are not fit for purpose. Talked endlessly to Sky and they know there are mega problems which updates are not fixing. Firmware and software dreadful. Considering legal action now ! Had enough ! Crap !

Thankfully I haven't got a Puk as it's a full time job getting Sky Glass to work!
Funny how my Firestick never hangs, crashes, pauses, locks up etc...but according to the Sky official misinformation campaign it's all because of my internet connection...and the latest doozy is that I cannot have any other network devices connected because Sky Glass will crash if I try. I asked why this wasn't made clear to me at point of 'miss' selling and the answer was they can only comment on the Sky Glass connection requirements...what an utter shambles this is. HAD ENOUGH NOW! I'm thinking legal action may well be the only remaining option.

Since I hardwired my Sky Glass TV to the modem via a 4 metre Ethernet cable a few weeks ago virtually all issues have been resolved and I'm enjoying my Sky Glass TV at long last.
I get the odd glitch , frozen pic or loss of sound or a sequence going into a repeat loop but these are very infrequent and I can live with these occasional interruptions.
I've yet to try out any of the pucks and I'll report any issues when I do but it seems that relying on Wi-Fi is not the answer and I'll hard wire wherever I can.

Honestly, that is rubbish. We have what is called hyper fast broadband. 1gbps. Our Wi-Fi is mission critical, delivering minimum of 500mbps in every room..........still Sky crashes, lip-sync out bu at least 5 frames regularly, PUKS constantly saying no network and then miraculously have loads of network. System is seriously not fit for purpose. I have a Peloton tread and Peloton bike+, both using broadband to deliver hi def streaming content......never ever a conn3ctivity issue....NEVER ! Sky, disaster. I'm in the media myself and have media lawyers, Monday I will discuss legal action because this is beyond appalling.

I'm pleased you are seeing better reliability, I've also hardwired mine but sadly still have issues, especially when using apps. My point, however, is that I was told at the point of sale that this was a Wi-Fi based system that only required a power source. I am now being told on my many, many tier 1 and 2 calls that this is not the case and I will only get any measure of reliability via an Ethernet cable. I have had to run an 8m cable around my room and up the middle of the wall to the TV, precisely what I wanted to avoid. It looks ugly and spoils the clean wall mounted effect I wanted. Furthermore, I am also still being told to disconnect any other network devices because Sky Glass needs all my Wi-Fi bandwidth; by any measure this is unacceptable. According to Sky support that means no Google nests, minis, smart thermostats, smart plugs, security cameras, baby monitors et al. As I say, this is totally unacceptable.

Really happy with ours in a townhouse over 3 floors, glass on bottom floor puck on middle floor where the BT WiFi box is and another puck in my sons bedroom on the 3rd floor all connected over WiFi and working perfect
04 Feb 2022 08:37 PM
So lucky ! Our PUKS can take 30 mins to connect............we have 4 PUKS and all work with varying time to connect. Some need 5 reboots and another 10/20 mins to get it to connect.....not impressed, but great to hear someone has it working properly

@Neilferret if mine was that bad I would have sent it back don't understand why you would put up with that everyday

Only because, in theory, Sky glass should be amazing. Plus we took our dish down and removed all the cables. Sky Glass feels like 2022 technology and looks the part......but it isn't regrettably. No going back now.

I think I must be one of the luck few who isn't having major issues.
my glass is connected via Ethernet (20m long cable and through two 1gb switches) and it works perfectly 99% of the time. The odd issue, but nothing major.
In the recent storms our TV service has been perfect, not like SkyQ that would have issues with channels not working in really bad weather.
my puk is connected via Wi-Fi and yes it can be a bit slow, but overall It works 95% of the time with no issues.
for both the glass and puk they have been steadily getting better and once you get your head around how the "recordings" work, for us it's every bit as good as SkyQ, better in a lot of respects with instant access to on demand content and the integration of all the on demand service content in one interface !
Sadly it sounds like many are having hardware level issues, hopefully you get it sorted and can experience glass properly.
