Why is sky so unhelpful when a customer wants to leave after a contract ends.
They hide contact numbers..and keep us hanging on for hours in a message centre..stating they need a loyalty bod to intervene
I dont need a bod..just someone to acknowledge that i am leaving
On my dates i will cancel my direct debits..i have contacted via email
They have acknowledged my email..thats good enough for me.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThat won't be sufficient. Stopping your direct debit won't work, in fact it’s the worst thing you could do so I would strongly advise against it. You will end up having your services restricted, incur fees for non/late payment, potentially get a bad credit score and have debt collectors writing to you, or even worse knocking on your door.
TV: ~ You’ll need to contact Sky to cancel all or reduce part of your TV package and give the required notice of 31 days. This link should help https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv
If you’re in the UK it should include a Message Us option between 0900-1930.
If you’re in the ROI it’s only by calling or writing in.
If you're still within a minimum term you may not be able to cancel until that has ended.
Broadband:~ If you are cancelling broadband totally or are moving to Virgin you'll have to contact Sky and give the required notice of 14 days. This link should help https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-broadband
If you are changing to another ISP who also uses the Openreach infrastructure then join up with them and they should contact Sky on your behalf.

at some point you will need to speak to sky as they are legally required to get verbal confirmation from the account holder
you need to preserve in trying to contact sky via phone

If that mail is confirmation that you've given notice to leave and your services are ending then that's fine. Any other 'acknowledge' is not good enough.

Unless you have signed up to another supplier who would take over your phone line then the number would be lost if you have just cancelled it. If you were to move to Virgin you would need to cancel it anyway but for all others you just sign up to a new supplier who takes the line over from Sky.
