Is my new Sky Q box faulty or just really annoying?
Had the box for about 8 hours, watched 1 hour on Netflix and got thrown out, watched 48 minutes on I-player and got thrown off twice. Just returned from walking the dog, all channels are blank, no sound but all menus working so connection between TV and box is fine. Have reset box each time and it comes back. All software is up to date. Just as I was writing this the screen turned pink and green, juddered and started screeching. Another reset and it has just come back. Think I've been sold a pup.

Yup. Ring Sky & get the box replaced. It should not be doing any of those things.

And now my remote control has stopped working, it controls the volume on the TV and I can change inputs but nothing on q box 🤣🤣

Not sure if you have tried, but before you call Sky.
Restart the box, by removing the power on the Sky Q box and leave off power for a few minutes.
Power back on and see if this time it is ok.
If not, call Sky and they will be able to resolve a replacement box for you.

Hi @fitzbunwaller Check that it running the latest software Q170. It may be on old delivery software.

You've been unlucky, I've never had any of those issues, give Sky a call and get a new box.

Called Sky this morning, my new box is being winged to me right now, unfortunately they are particularly slow wings and is expected on the 25th October (or I could pay a premium for a weekend visit and get it on the 24th) 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Is an engineer bringing it? Can't they just send you a new box via courier for you to swap yourself? That's what they've been doing recently.

@fizzdisco I tried, I begged, I shouted, I threated to cancel, but no. They won't put one in the post for me.
I have a very inconvenient virtual engineer calling tomorrow. I hope he doesn't expect me to be at home next to my TV.

They really are hopeless sometimes. No consistency whatsoever to how they do things. What the heck even is a virtual engineer ?!?
