Is SkyQ full HDR/4K?

Afternoon All,

So our LG TV's pop a little notification box when the mode changes to HDR or a 4K feed, this happens on Prime/Netflix BluRay etc but it's never done it when I flip to a SkySports Ultra HD channel.

All my settings are turned up to max resolution and refresh rates in the main box. But it just seems odd that the TV's don't notify us.

does anyone else have this?

thanks

@HCD2014  Currently only Europsort 4K has live HDR sports for the Olympics.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Why Why Why are not BBC  flying the HDR flag HLG HDR- Or should I say  NHK HDR, or are the BBC helping Europe to fly the flag for HDR,  you know one day we might get the benefit of the research the  BBC and NHK did together. maybe 12 K. or maybe the pigs will fly.

@Jayneedee

The BBC has said it would have been too costly to implement UHD/HDR/HLG streams for the Olympics.

Re: Is SkyQ full HDR/4K?

Thanks guys, it was really that I couldn't see the TV change mode when on a UHD channel. Almost implied that the feed wasn't full UHD

2 things - you say UHD channel - is that just a slip in terminology as there are no UHD channels as such - just UHD content available via links or red buttons for live sport &  downloadable content from SKY channels & Movies.

Thus you have checked you are watching UHD programmes or films haven't you ?

Just to be sure, have you been able to set the screen resolution on your SKY Q box to 2160 10 bit ?

Re: Is SkyQ full HDR/4K?

Sorry yes that's what I mean, so when I'm watching the F1 for example. I flick it onto the UHD via Red button, I'd have expected the TV to let me know if the change, but it doesn't.

hi @HCD2014

Unless you are keep changing the settings SKY Q 'upscales' content to UHD so that is the standard resolution when watching SKY Q - so you would not see any change when watching F1 UHD

Each TV displays info differently.

If you do watch HDR I would expect it to probably give some indication but I don't think all do.

If you have an HDR box (I don't) in addition to the Eurosport Feed there are various on demand shows available (Some of the nature ones I think, as well as some from SKY one/ atlantic) in HDR as well as films  that you can try - Sorry I can't double check which

Re: Is SkyQ full HDR/4K?

@HCD2014

I don't think TVs tend to tell you when you're watching UHD, unless you see 2160p when you press info or equivalent.

An HDR flag, yes, on some TVs. But not UHD.
